lSpecification forming part of Letters Patent No. 36,200, dated August 12, 1862.
To all ww'm/ it may concern.-
Be it known that I, W. L. WOODS, of Washington city, in the District of Columbia, have, invented a new and Improved Paper-File and Docu ment-Safe, the use of which is to facilitate the handling of business papers and for their preservation; andI do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction o f a folding box so arranged that the inside will slip out in part, so as to enable the operator vto examine the papers on le by their titles without removing them from the safe,vand closeup in a compact manner, the whole combination forming a practical paperfile and documentvsafe suitable for all ordinary business departments, and preserving the papers from the dust and the usual wear of handling.
To enable others skilled in the art to makeand use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
I construct my paper-file and documentsafe of any suitable size and out of any suitable materials used by carpenters, book-binders, box-makers, tin and copper smiths, and in the forni of a folding box, as shown open and closed by Figures l, 2, and 3 in the annexed.
