UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EMILE A. KLAIBER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
FOLDER FOR CONTAINING LETTERS OR OTHER PAPERS.
To all whom it may concern Be itknown that I, EMILE AUGUSTUS KLABnR, citizen of the United States of America, residing at 371 Broadway, New York, N. Y., United States of America, have invented new and useful Improvements in Folders for Containing Letters or other Papers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved folder for containing letters or other papers which it is desired to file for record and it has for its object to produce a pocket shaped folder which is expansible and in which provision is made whereby the contents of the said folder may be readily examined without necessitating the removal of the documents.
A folder according to the present invention comprises a back and a front member, said members being connected upon one of the ends and along one side by means of a folded or bellows like connection which will allow the folder to expand according to the number of papers it is desired to contain. In order that the contents of the folder may be examined without necessitating their removal, the outer member of the folder is creased or indented across one corner so that the said corner may be turned back to expose a considerable portion of one end of the documents.
In order that the invention may be the better understood, drawings are appended in which Figure 1 is an elevation of a folder constructed in accordance wit-h the present invention. Fig. 2 is a plan. Fig. 3 is a front elevation. Fig. 4 shows the arrangement of the tabs when they are removable. Fig. 5 shows the tabs provided with numerical signs. Fig. 6 shows the tabs provided with alphabetical signs.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, a indicates the front and b the back member of the folder and which members are connected on two edges by means of a folded or bellows like connection 0. The connection 0 is attached to the back and front members along one side and at the bottom. The side of the folder opposite that closed by the connection a is left open for the ready introduction and removal of the docua ments. The front member a is scored, indented or otherwise weakened along the line Specification of Letters Patent.

d cl so that the upper front corner of the said front member can be readily turned down to expose a considerable portion of the upper end of the documents. By this means the contents of the folder may be readily examined without being removed and the time which otherwise would be occupied in removing, examining and replacing the document, is saved.
I may if desired provide the back or front member or both back and front members with tabs 6 which may or may not be scored out to facilitate their removal as shown at an, x in Fig. 4 and which tabs may bear numerical signs as shown in Fig. 5 or alphabetical signs or characters as shown in Fig. 6.
Claims:
1. A folder for the purpose stated comprising a front member creased across one corner and a back member, and a connection upon one side and bottom between said members.
2. A folder for the purpose stated comprising a front member creased across one corner and a back member, and an expansible connection upon one side and bottom between said members.
3. A folder for the purpose specified comprising a front member creased across one corner and a back member, an expansible connection upon one side and bottom between said members, and tabs upon the back member bearing numerical signs or characters.
4. A folder for the purpose specified comprising a front member creased across one corner and a back member, an expansible connection upon one side and bottom between said members, and tabs upon the back member bearing signs or characters.
5. A folder for the purpose specified comprising a front member creased across one corner and a back member, an expansible connection upon one side and bottom between said members, and detachable tabs upon the back member. 7
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
EMILE A. KLABER.
