1: i UNITED SfrfrrEsl PATENT OFFICE.
y GEQEGEE. fEAEM'EE, oE PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
y` IMPRovEMENT IN ENvELoPEs FoR'sEwlNe-NEEDLES.
` "i Specification forming part of LettersfPatent No. 35,596, dated June 1T, 1862.
e Beit known that I, GEORGE PLFAEMEE, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented an Improved Wrapper for Containing Needles;
andI do hereby declare the following tobe a e' full, clear, and exact description of the same,
reference beinghad to the accompanying drawf ings, and to thleQletters of reference marked i thereon. i 1 i." y y i e u Myinvention consists of astrip ofpaper or' other suitable material, into which the needles `are stuck .and arranged `separately from each l `lother, thepaper'with its needlesbeing permanently attached to awrapper arranged 'for foldingover and inclosing the needles, as de` `scribed hereinafterg i l y i rEhe object of my "improved wrapper is to y i prevent that loss of `needles'which frequently L takesvplace on removing them from or replacing them in ordinary wrappers.
- Inforderto enable othersto make my inven-v i 4tion, ,I will now proceed to describe the man- `ner of constructing thesame.
\ On reference to the accompanying drawings,
` UFigure 1 shows my improved needle-holder and lwrapper "asitl appears `when open; Fig.
" 12, a sectioneontheline 1 2, Fig. l; Fig. 3, a View ofthefwrapper and holder` when folded Eis a stripof paper" or other suitable may `terial, 'on which arezraisedtwo transverse ridges, a a, and into theseridges are stuck the The @upper edge, w, of the holder B is gummed or otherwise permanently secured to the upper edge of the Wrapper A, which is of such a size that when folded on the lines y,
Fig. l, it will completely envelop the holder and the needles and assume the form represented inA Fig. 3.
In the ordinary Wrapper .or case nov:r employed the needles are laid loosely side by side,
and many are lost by dropping from the packl age While one is being removed orreplaced,
which cannot occur in using my improved y Wrapper, from 4Which one,f needle may be detached and reinserted in the holder without the yleastliabilty of disturbing any of the others. e
I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The holder B and wrapper A, when constructed and arranged for holding the needles and folding over and inclosing the same, substantially as and for the purpose herein set forth. l
In testimony whereof I have signed my name 4to this specification 'in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
