Description

L. DECKER.
(No Model.)
PANTS.A
,Patented Deo. 28
By h6?" UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LIZZIE DECKER, OE sANDUsKY COUNTY, OHIO.
PANTS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 355,256, dated December 28, 1886.
Application tiled September 21, 1886. Serial No. 214,127. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LIzzIE DECKER, a citizen of the UnitedStates, residing in the county of Sandusky and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pants; and l do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertainsto make and use the same.
My invention relates to pants, and more particularly to that class known as kneepanls, and worn by children, the object of the invention being to so construct the saine that they will not gap open at the slits in the hips, as is usual in this kind of garment, and to cover the slit in such manner that articles may be placed in the pockets without the liability of their dropping down the legs of thc pants.
With these ends in view, the invention conssts in theimproved `construction and detailed arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claims.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a pair of pants embodying my iniprovements. Fig. 2 is a similar view with the back flap opened. Fig. 3 is a detail side View, and Fig. 4 is a detail view, of my improvement.`
Corresponding parts in the several figures are denoted by the same letters of reference.
Referring'to the drawings, A represents the pants having the front and back flaps, B C. The front portion ofthe pants is secured at its upper edge, while the back flap is adapted to be let down, and said back flap is provided at each corner with an eyelet or button-hole, b, to receive a button, c, secured at the upper edge of the pants. v
D represents the pockets, to the inner edges of which are secured flaps E, which are cut away toward their inner ends, for an obvious whereby they may be connected. As the flaps are secured to the inner -edges of the pockets2 it will be observed that when the back flap is buttoned to place the said flaps will effectively close the slits between the front and rear ilaps of the pants, thereby preventing the under-clothing of the child from being exposed, and so that 'articles may be placed in the pockets without any liability of their dropping downinside the pants. The llaps, when buttoned, ht sufficiently tight to prevent their slipping or falling down, and serve to aid in holding the pants in position.
It will be seen that as the naps are cutaway or recessedv at their ends, it is not necessary to unbutton or disturb them in the least in attending to the calls of nature, it only being necessary to unbutton the back hap.
Theimprovement before described is simple, effective for the purposes intended, and may be applied to pants at a trilling cost. v
Having thus described claim- 1. The combination, with a pair gf pants having the front and back flaps, of the concealing-deps, each secured to the interior of the pants at one end and having means for connecting their other ends, said liaps closing the side slits in the pants, substantially as set forth.
2. The combination, with a pair of pants, ofthe concealing-flaps secured to the interior of the front flap and extending to the rear Hap, and having means Vfor connecting them at such point, the eyelets b, and buttons c, attached to the concealing-ilaps, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof Iaffix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
LIZZIE DECKER.
