SUSPENDERS.
5PEflllrTltil-iixflllON forming part of Letters Patent No. 332,479, dated December 15, 1885.
Application filed September 22, 1885. Serial No. 177,ll.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE H. BOYD, of Marysville, in the county of Yuba and State of California, have invented new and Improved Suspenders, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of my invention is to provide new andjniproved suspenders which lit well, are convenient, do not draw the pants nor tear off buttons, and rest well.
The invention consists in suspenders constructed as will fully be described and set forth hereinafter, and pointed out in the claims.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved suspenders on the body. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the same detached.
The suspenders consist of the two shoulder straps or bands, A, and the two buckle straps, B, and the buckles 0, held on the straps B. The buckle-straps B are each provided at the front end with a button-hole, b, for receiving the front button, D, on the pants, and the rear ends of the bucklestraps B are secured to the shou1der-bands A a short distance above the back ends of the same, which back ends have button-holes a for receiving the side buttons, E. The bucklestraps B pass freely through the buckles G. The shoulder-straps A are crossed on the back in the usual manner.
(N0 model.)
The bands or straps may be made of webbing, leather, &c.
The suspenders are attached to the waistband of the pants at the front and sides only, and thus the suspenders rest very easily, do not interfere with stooping or bending, and the suspenders and the buttons are not sub jected to any undue strains, especially in stooping and bonding.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A pair of suspenders having the front ends of the shoulder bands or straps passed through buckles on buckle-straps having button-holes in the front end, and having their rear ends secured to the shoulder-bands, substantiall y as herein shown and described.
2. In a pairof suspenders, the combination, with the crossed bands A, having their front ends united to the buckles O and their rear ends provided with button-holes, of bucklestraps B,passed through the buckles 0, having buttonholes at their front ends, and having their rear ends connected with the straps A a short distance above the button-holes at the rear ends of said straps, substantially as herein shown and described.
GEORGE H. BOYD.
