PANTALOONS FOR HUNTERS, 8m.
N0 823,988. Patented Aug. 11, 1885.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANK WALLOOH, OF NEW' YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO ISAAC WALLOCH, OF SAME PLACE.
PANTALOONS FOR HUNTERS, 81.0.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 323,983, dated August 11, 1885.
Application filed January 17, 1885. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, FRANK WALLOGH, a citizen of the United States and a resident of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Pantaloons, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in pantaloons, overalls, and the like garments, used by hunters more especially, but also by others having use for such garments and it consists in the construction and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the drawings, Figure 1 illustrates a front view of a pair of pantaloons or overalls with my invention-attached,and Fig. 2 illustrates a back view of the same.
In both figures like letters indicate like parts.
A are the pantaloons.
B are the pockets.
0 is the waist-band, which may be made in any usual or'desired manner.
0 c, &c., are the buttons, and c the buttonholes, for confining the garment in front as usual.
I) is the belt, which I stitch to the waistband upon the outside of the garment. It is provided at one end with a buckle, E, and at the opposite end with a strap, F, which engages with the buckle, as usual.
When sewing the belt to the waist band of the garment, I form plaits or gathers in it which constitute little pockets, G G, 850., for the reception of the cartridges. Some of these pockets may be small, as seen at the left in Fig. l, for the reception of pistol-cartridges, and they may be stitched across at their lower ends by the line of stitching g y, if desired, to prevent the cartridges from dropping through. Others may be large, as shown at G in Fig. 1, adapted to contain rifle-cartridges, and they may be left open at the bottom as well as at the top, if preferred, so that they will receive and hold a cartridge longer than the width of the belt, the cartridge being held and prevented from dropping through by the flange on its head, and the pocket being made to fit the cartridges somewhat snugly.
H in Fig. 2 illustrates a large pocket in the belt, adapted to receive and hold a pistol, knife, or other such article. There maybe two or more of these large pockets, if desired, to contain a number of such articles, utensils, or tools, and of the desired shape therefor.
h h are buttons sewed to the belt between the cartridge-pockets, both in front and behind, to which the ordinary suspenders may be attached, if desired, to hold up the garment. This may be a more comfortable method of wearing the same when the belt is heavy with its load of cartridges, pistol, knife, &c. The belt may be made of any desired material-leather, cloth, canvas, or any other suitable material.
I do not limit myself to the details of construction shown in the drawings, since they may be departed from and yet my invention be employed.
Having described my invention, I claim- The combination, with the waist-band of a pair of pantaloons, of a belt secured thereto, as described, said belt having its body portion gathered and forming pockets of different sizes, the smaller ones of which are closed at the bottoms and the larger ones open at the top and bottom, whereby cartridges of difi'erent sizes may be inserted therein, as shown and described.
Signed at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, this 8th day of January, A. D. 1885.
FRANK VALLOGH.
