OVERALLS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 264,249, dated September- 12, 1882. Application filed March 18, 1882. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT A. DAVE), of
the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Overalls and Similar Garments, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of the same.
My improvement consists of a buckle-strap at the inner side of the waistband of overalls, pantaloons, and drawers, and in rear of the fly or overlapping pieces, so as to be concealed, as hereinafter described.
The drawing is a rear perspective view of my improvement as applied to a'pair of overalls.
The description is equally applicable to pantaloons and drawers. The garment is made without any exterior strap, and without e1astic gores at side or back to contract it at the waist for purpose of suspension.
A is the body of the garment.
B is the waistband.
O is an inside strap, composed of two parts or ends, a 0', extending from the inside of the waistband B, one at each side of the fly D. The strap 0 may be made of the same kind of material as the waistband; or it may be made of any other suitable material. One of the ends, as c, carries a buckle, 0 which engages 0 the other end, 0.
I do not confine myself to any particular manner of attaching the parts 0 c of the strap to the waistband B. The ends of the parts may be inserted in a vertical slit in the waist- 3 5 band and sewed fast or simply stitched to the same; or the parts 0 0 may be made of the same strip of goods as the inside layer or lining-strip of the waistband.
I claim as new and of my invention The combination, with an outer waistband, B, and a fly, D, of the waist-strap G, contiguous to and in rear of the fly, and secured to the said waistband so as to be concealed, as set forth.
