HUNTING-JACKET.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 323,987, dated August 11, 1885.

Be it known that I, FRANK WALLooH, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Hunting- Jackets, of which the following is a specification.

This invention has relation to improvements in hunting-jackets; and it consists in the construction and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter described, andparticularl y pointed out in the claim.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a front view of the jacket, the sleeves being partially removed, said jacket having my iiivention applied to the Waist portion thereof. Fig. 2 is a back view of the same.

2'0 pockets and G is the belt, made in two pieces, as shown in the drawings, one piece thereof being gathered to form pockets G, for the reception of eartridgesthe other piece being secured to the waistof thejacket to form therewith a waistband. Some of these pockets may be small, as shown at G, Fig. l, for the reception of cartridges of small size, and said pockets may stitched across their lower ends by stitches g g, to prevent said small cartridges 0 from dropping through. Other pockets may be large, as shown at G in Fig. 1, thus adapted to receive and hold rifle-cartridges, and these pockets may be left open at the bottom as well as the top, so that they will receive and hold a cartridge longer than the width of the belt, the cartridge being held and prevented t'rom dropping through by the flange on its head, the pocket being 'made to fit the cartridges somewhat snugly.

to receive and hold a pistol, knife, or other such article. There may be more than one of these larger pockets, if desired, and of such sizeand shape as is necessary to hold any de- 5 sired tool or weapon.

The smaller or cartridge portion of the belt may be provided with a buckle, 1), and strap E, in order that thejaeket may be tightened about the waist, as is usually desirable.

. The belt may be made of any desired material--such as leather, cloth, canvas, and the likeand the larger or waistband portion may be fastened to the garment in any desired manner, as by rivets, stitches, or otherwise.

The belt (J is extended to form the strap E, by means of which the belt may be drawn tight to the body of the wearer by said strap engaging the buckle D on the opposite end of Said belt.

Havingdescribed my invention, whatIclaim is- As a new-article of manufacture, a huntingjacket provided with a belt made in two sections, the inner one of which is secured to the 65 jacket to form a waistband thereto, and the outer section gathered to form continuous pockets of different sizes, the smaller ones of which are closed at the bottoms and thelarger ones open at the top and bottom, said belt 70 having formed therewith an extension or strap to engage a buckle, as shown and described.
