SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 308,221, dated November 18, 1884.

To all whom, it may con/cern,.-
Be it known that we, BENJAMIN FRANKLIN WEISHAMPEL and WILLIAM P. TowLEs, both of Baltimore, in the county of Baltimore and State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drawers, of which the following is a full, clear, and eXact description. r
The object of our invention is to provide certain new and useful improvements in drawers, whereby the drawers will be well ventilated, so as to be cool and agreeable in summer.
The invention consists in drawers having the lower parts of the legs from the knee downward made of open-work fabric.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this' specification, in which a front View of our improved drawers is shown.
The top part of the drawers A is made of woven or knit linen or cotton fabric, and the legs G are'lnade of the same material down to the knees, or a/short distance below theknees, and the lower parts of the legs are formed of open-work fabric B, such as net-work, grenadine, lace-body, or other apertured or perforated material. The perforated part of each leg is provided with an upright slit inthe usual manner, and with bands C at the lower end, or with buttons, or an elastic band at the bottom to hold the lower end of the drawers7 .leg securely on the leg, and to hold the socks. l. A pair of drawers having the'lower parts l of the legs, from about the kneesdownward, made of open-work or net-work fabric, substantially as herein shown and described.
2. In drawers, the combination, with the body and legs made of knit or woven linen or cotton fabric from the waistband down to the knees, of net-work or open-work fabric secured to the lower ends of the above-men` tioned legs at the knees, substantially as herein shown and described.
