GLOVE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 342,833, dated June 1, 1886.

Application filed February 23, 1886. Serial No. 192 880. (No model.) Patented in England May 6, 1885, No. 5,604.

.To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, CHARLES llIAYS and WILLIAM PRICE PEPYs, both of 11 Eastcheap, in the city of London, England, have invented a certain new and useful Improvementin Gloves, (for which We have obtained Letters Patent in Great Britain, No. 5,604, dated May 6, 1885,) of which the following is a specification.

Our invention relates to gloves of the class which are composed partly of skin or leather and partly of woven fabric.

Our object is to produce a glove having all the appearance of kid or other skin, but yet much cooler to wear. We attain the object sought by forming the fourchettes (the gussets between the fingers) of a material more open than skin. The material which we prefer to employ is the fabric known as traverse or transverse silk or taffeta, "but other strong open fabric may be employed instead. In this way we provide a glove resembling an ordinary kid glove, it being entirely of skin, with the exception of the fourchettes, which are scarcely seen when the glove is in use.

The accompanying drawing represents in perspective a glove embodying our improvements.

The glove is composed entirely of skin or leather a a, except the fourchettes b b, which are of open fabric.

l/Ve do not broadly claim a glove composed in part of skin or leather and in part of cloth or other fabric, as we are aware that it is common to make gloves of such materials combined in various ways;

\Ve claim as our invention The hereinbefore-described glove, composed in the main of skin or leather, and having the open-fabric fourchettes, as and for the purpose set forth.
