Specicaton of Letters Patent No. 29,678, dated August 21, 1860.

T o all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, IV. DECKMANN, of Canton, in the county of Stark and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Bedsteads; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing, forming part of this specification, in the several figures of which similar characters of reference denote the saine part.

Figure l is a side View of the bedstead; showing in red lines the manner of folding, Fig. 2 is an end view of the same.

rlhe nature of the invention consists in the combination of certain peculiar castings connecting posts and rails, with securing bolts holding these parts firmly together, the details of construction and operation being as follows:

In the drawing P P are the posts, and S the side rails, hinge-d in the middle thereof, to admit of folding.

A and B are the castings the former inserted in the post and the latter attached to the rail.

The trunnions a a of casting B rest upon the bearings Z) of casting A, the lower portion of casting B passing through slot CZ of casting A.'

Upon the side rails are slides D operated by a lever and rod connection E, which said slides pass behind the lips of castings B, when the bedstead is expanded and securely tighten the joint.

Ihen the slides are withdrawn the parts are free to assume the position seen in red lines Fig. l.

I claim- The castings A and B as described in combination with slides D and parts operating the same as applied to bedstead fastenings.
