THOMAS DOUGHERTY, OF MACON, GEORGIA.
SWITCH-STAND FOR RAILROADS.
Specification of Letters Patent No. 25,396,dated September 13, 1859.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS DOUGHERTY, of Macon, in the county of Bibb, and in the State of Georgia, have invented a new and Improved Switch-Stand; and I do hereby declare thatthe following is a full and eXactdescript-ion of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing, making a part of this specication in which- Figure 1, front view; Fig. 2, side elevation; Fig. 3, section.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
A, is the main pin connecting the rod L to the switch rails and to the lever D.
B is an eccentric revolving with pin C, to lift out the main pin A, from notches.
C is the pin to connect eccentric B, through bar D, with E.
D is the main switch lever with the slot at H, to permit pin A, to drop in the notches M, M, M.
E is the flat bar connected by bolt K and eccentric B in which revolves pin O, to lift out main bar D.
F, is the eye to receive lock or bolt.
G is the handle on eccentric B, to revolve and lift out lever D.
H, is the slot in lever D, to permit pin A, to pass in and out notches M, M, M.
I, is an opening forged on lever D through which passes the eye F.
K, is the pin connecting E, to stand N, through lever D.
L, is the rod connect-ing the lever to switch rails.
M, M, M, are the notches to receive pin A.
N, is the switch stand.
That I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of eccentric B, with the pin C, through lever D, to bar E, for the purpose of locking and unlocking the main pin A, to and from notches M, M, M, substantially as for the purpose above set forth.
