Be it known that I, AMDE TROUTTET, of the city, county, and State of New York, have' invented a new and Improved Glove-Fastener, ofwhich the following is a full, clear, and

exact description.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, 1n which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.

The invention will first be described in connection with the drawings, and then pointed out in the claims.A

In the drawings, A represents the fasteningstrap. This is formed with a seriesof holes, a a, and is secured by the eyelets b to the flap B of the wrist of the glove, and upon the fast' ening-strap A is placed loosely the sliding buckle or fastener C. The flap D of the wrist of the glove is provided with the reyelets c c, and has formed in it the button-hole d, and upon its under side it is provided with the shield-piece e, preferably of stiff thin leather, that serves to prevent the flap from being folded under in the act of fastening the glove, and also to protect the wrist of the wearer from the eyelets c c, buttonj', and hook g of Thebuckle or fast.- ener C is skeleton or loop shaped, as shown lclearly in Fig. 4, and the forward bar, h, thereof is formed with a hook, t', that is adapted to catch into one or other of the eyelets b, or one or other of the holes a, made in t-he strap A, according to the size of the wrist, and the rear bar, h', of the buckle or fastener C is formed upon the under side with said hook g, that is adapted to catch into one or other of the eyelets c. The buckle or fastener Gis placed upon the fastening-strap A by simply passing the strap A through the opening j of the buckle, as shown clearly in Fig. 2, and the buckle is prevented from sliding off from the `fastening-strap A by the ornament J attached tothe free end of the strap A, which ornament is larger than the opening j of the buckle. The ornament J might be ameremetallic ornament to give a finished appearance to the end of the strap A, and to serve for keepingvthe buckle upon the strap A; but instead of the ornament J any other suitable means for keeping the buckle upon the strap might be used. But I prefer to use the ornament J, and I prefer to form it with the button Aportion f, above mentioned, which is adapted to be passed through the button-hole d, after the glove is fastened, for. holding the free end of the strap A down and in propen-position close to the wrist, as will be understood from Fig. 2; and I prefer to form the ornament J in two partsm viz., the said button portion f and the clamp part f/-which .parts are adapted to be screwed together by thescrew-threaded shank e,formed upon the part f', entering the screw-threaded tap i', formed in thebutton part f, for convenience in attaching the ornament to the strap A.'

In use, while the glove is being put upon the hand, it will be understood that all parts of the improved fastener will be detached from the i'lap D. The glove having been drawn fully upon the hand, the buckle or fastener C will be drawn outward upon the fasteningn strap A toward the ornament J, and the hook g of the buckle will be caught in one or other of the eyelets c. Then, by drawing upon the free end of the strap A, the flaps B D.of the wrist of the glove will be drawn together, the buckle C sliding upon the strap until the iiaps of the glove are brought snugly around the wrist. The hook will then be caught in one or other of theeyelets b, or one or other of the holes a, made in the strap A, which will securely fasten the glove. The button f of the ornament J will then be passed through the button-hole d, for holding'the vfree end of the strap A down to the'wrist, as will be unf derstood from Fig. 2.` To unfasten the glove, the ornament J is -simply to be unbuttoned from the button-hole d, and then the hook i is to be lifted out of the eyelet b or hole a, as the case may be, which will permit the strap A to slide through the buckle C, thus enabling the IOO hook g to be easily detached from the eyelet C, which being done will set the iiaps B D of the glove entirely free.

To the flap B, upon the under side, is secured the facing 7s, of sonic thin stiff leather, which prevents the corner of the flap B from being folded under when the glove is being fastened.

Thus constructed, it will be seen that the fastener is very convenient, quick aud easy to glove, and having suitable holes or eyelets, in combination with the buckle or fastener C, having hook z' and hook g, and the ilap D, having suitable holes or eyelets for receiving the hook g, substantially as described.
