m 3 Claims. c1. 2-71 This invention relates to womens garments and embodies, more specifically, an improved garment of unitary construction useful among other things for uniforms, sport clothing, house dresses, robes and the like, wherein freedom of movement and stylish appearance are desirable with features that enable the garment to be quickly put on and removed.

In the nursing, military and civil defense services as well as in the sports and home-making it is necessary to assume postures and positions that require considerable freedom of movement within a garment that is being worn and prior garments affording a degree of freedom of movement, have not presented a stylish appearance. Accordingly it is an object of the invention to provide a garment, such as a uniform, having attractive and stylish appearance and at the same time providing sufiicient freedom of movement to enable the wearer to discharge all of the duties required during service in comfort and without immodest exposure of the person.

A further object of the present invention resides in the provision of a single stylish garment of the above character that may be readily put on and removedwithout the necessity of changing undergarments. Still another object of the invention resides in the provision of an improved undergarment.

The attainment of certain of the foregoing objects is accomplished by the provision of a unitary construction having connected blouse and skirt portions that meet at the waist and incorporating slip-pants or loosely fitting slacks and a bodice.

Further objects of the present invention will become apparent as it is described in connection with the accompanying drawings, wherein:

Figure 1 is a view in front elevation showing a garment constructed in accordance with the present invention;

Figure 2 is a partial view similar to Figure 1 showing the top of the garment opened; and

Figure 3 is an exploded view showing the slip-pants and bodice in detail.

,Referring to the above drawings and more specifically Figure 1 thereof, the garment is formed of a skirt portion 11 and top or blouse portion 12 joined at the waist 13. Within the skirt portion 11 there is provided slip-pants 14 secured to the garment 10 in the region of the waist 13. A bodice 15 is disposed within the blouse portion 12, of the garment with separate supporting straps 16 that may be tacked or otherwise secured to the shoulder portions of the blouse 12. It will be observed that the front edge 17 of the bodice 15 is secured to the inner face of the right-hand front panel 18 of the blouse 12, while the front edge 19'of the bodice 15 is secured to the United States Patent inner face of the left-hand front panel 20 of the blouse 12. The blouse is preferably of a double-breasted construction and when closed as shown in Figure 1, brings the front edges 17 and 19 of the bodice into closely spaced relationship to attain substantially the same ends of the front blouse panel 20 at the waist 13. The skirt 11 is adapted to be opened only for a portion of the distance below the waist and when closed the upper section of the front panel 25 overlaps an underlying panel 25' having its leading edge 25" meeting the edge 18 of the right hand blouse panel 18. In this way the blouse and skirt form a unitary garment that may be quickly and easily opened and closed by buttons 28 and cooperating button holes 29. If desired a zipper or other suitable fastening means may be employed.

The slip-pants or loosely fitting slacks 14 disposed within the skirt 11 are slightly shorter than the skirt. These pants are formed of separate leg portions 21 and 22 secured about their top edges to the waist 13 of the garment. The back portions 30 and 31 of the pants legs 21 and 22 are secured to the back of the waist 13 in an overlapping position as illustrated in Fig. 3. The front edge 21' of the pants leg 21 is attached to the edge 25" of the underlying skirt panel 25' while the edge 22' of the pants leg 22 is secured to the inner side of the skirt panel 25 so that the edges 21 and 22 will be in overlapping relationship when the garment is closed as shown in Fig. l. The meeting edges of 24 and 24A of the pants legs 21 and 22 are provided with relatively wide hems that overlap one another when the garment is worn. The crotch structure formed in this: way has been found to provide complete protection and at the same time permit complete freedom of movement without detracting from the appearance of the outer garment.

From the above it is clear that this garment structure may be made in a variety of attractive designs for use at work, in sports and in the home. By making the garment of readily washable materials the entire unit can be laundered at one time since bulky seams are eliminated and all parts will be uniformly cleaned.

While only one form of the invention has been shown and described, it is apparent that modications, alterations and changes may be made without departing from the true scope and spirit thereof.

What is claimed is:

l. A garment comprising an outer dress-like structure having blouse and skirt parts secured together at the waist and having overlapping front portions forming a double-breasted front opening extending from the neckline to a point below the waist, a bodice within the blouse part having free unsecured edge parts forming an open front, the lower edge of said bodice being secured to said structure about the waist thereof and said front edges to the associated overlapping portions of the doublebreastedfront opening of said blouse, slip pants depending from the waist of the garment and having free and unsecured overlapping front portions, said overlapping front portions being secured to the associated overlapping portions of the front opening whereby closure of the front opening secures the bodice about the body of the wearer and holds the front portions of said slip pants in overlapping engagement.

A garment comprising an outer dress having blouse and skirt parts secured together at the waist and having overlapping front portions forming a double-breasted front opening extending from the neck to a point below the waist, an open front bodice within the blouse part with at least the edges of the open front secured to the associated overlapping front opening portions of the blouse part, and slip pants having free and unsecured overlapping front portions depending from the waist of the garment with the edges of the front portions secured to the associated overlapping portions of the front closure of the skirt part.

A garment comprising an outer dress-like structure having'blouse andskirtpar ts secured togetherat the .waist and having, overlapping front portions forming a double-breasted front opcningextending from the necklineto a point below the waist, an open front bodice within the blouse .part and secured thereto about the waist, means securing the edges of the open front of said bodice to, theassociated overlapping portions ofthe douhie-breasted front opening and slip pants depending from .the waist of the garment, said pants'having free and un- .;S cured overlappingfront, rearland crotch portions with the-top edges of the rear overlapping portions secured ,to the waist of the said dress-like structure and thecdges 4 of the front overlapping portions secured to associated overlapping portions of 'the'front opening in the skirt part.
