This invention relates to wearing apparel for women, misses and children.'

The invention includes an upper body portion I, a waistline 2, and a lowerdrape portion 3. The drape portion, as shown in the drawings, has the appearance of a skirt, with lines flowing outwardly in flaring fashion from the waistline to the bottom.- The drape portion, while simulating a skirt, is comprised of bifurcated leg portions 4,- la, which are preferably joined to the body portion at the waistline, and formed continuously therewith.v The two leg portions are joined to each other along a seam 5 extending from a point-6 adjacent the midsection of the abdomen in front along the full length of the crotch to a point 1 adjacent the waistline in the back, as clearly shown in Figure 5. The adjacent edges of the leg portions along the crotch are provided with separable fastening elements 8 which are operated by a coacting slide fastener 9. By means of the slide fastener 9 the seam along the entire crotch may be opened quickly and 15 conveniently for the performance of natural body functions.

The leg portions 5 and 4a are preferably arranged to simulate a skirt. For this purpose pleats Ill, lfla are formed from the material of 20 the leg portions by folding over upon itself a portion of the material of each leg along the full length thereof adjacent the opposite leg, with the meeting edges of the opposite pleats aligned in substantially abutting or overlapping relation. 25

Each of the leg portions 4, 4a has a portion out out therefromv which'begins at the top of the fastener 9; adjacent the midsection of the abdomen, and extends inwardly to the inner fold of the pleats l0, Illa, and upwardly to the top edge 30 of each leg portion, as best shown in Figure 6. An advantage of this construction is that it eliminates an additional thickness of material adjacent that portion of the body and lowers the fastening element to a point below the waistline so as to avoid the discomfort caused by having afastening element at the waistline when the wearer of the garment bends over.

As shown in Figure l, fastening means are preferably provided to secure together the meeting edges of the adjacent front pleat portions, thereby enclosing and removing from view the seam 5 and separable fastener elements 8, so that the garment, simulating a skirt, may be 45 worn with the bifurcations exposed or enclosed, as desired, with complete modesty and propriety. The pleats at the back of the garment may be similarly fastened if desired. It will be seen that this construction provides a simple and effective garment which can be made-and sold economically, and which can be used for wear around the house, for sportswear, or otherwise.
