Patented Feb. 6, 1940 This invention relates to maternity garments and more particularly to agarment comprising a skirt having a vest and a'blouse connected to the top thereof andv which: garment will en'- able the wearer to use a panel-front closed skirt while enabling the size of the waistline to be varied'from time to time as circumstances may require. u

With the parts constructed and arranged as described, the operation will be readily understood. With the fastening elements 22 connected to the innermost fastening elements 22a and with all of the fasteners 2| in use between the gores l2, l3 and IS, IT, the waistline of the garment is at its smallest dimension, this dimension being determined by the length of the tops of the gores H, 14, I5 and !8. When it is desired to let out the waist, the fasteners 2| which are nearest adjacent to the gores l4 and I5, respectively, are disconnected and the fastening elements 22 are then moved outwardly and 22a. This operation can be repeated as frequently as desirable, it being noted that the number and spacing of the fastening members may be varied as desirable. During these operations, the bottoms of the fronts 24 and 25 of the blouse will move outwardly, but the space therebetween will be kept closed by the vest C during all adjustments of the waistline.

By the construction shown and described herein, it willbe evident that I have produced a garment which will preserve the appearance of a panel-front'closed skirt with an integraLor attached blouse throughout all adjustments of the waistline, in place of the wrap-around garment. I

For convenience of description, the terms front and rear have been applied to the members of the side portions (l2, l3 and I6, l1) when they occupy the position shown in Fig. 3.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:

1. A garment comprising a skirt, a vest, and an open-front blouse, the said skirt: comprising a central front portion, a central back portion, and side portions comprising each a front member and a back member connected at their outer edges and constituting extensions of the outer edges of the adjacent central-front and back portions, respectively, the central front portion being provided adjacent to the top thereof with laterally spaced fastening me mbers'extenm. ing outwardly from and arranged on opposite.

2. A garment comprising a skirt, a vest and an open-front blouse, the skirt comprising a centrally arranged pair of front gores, a centrally-arranged :pair of back gores and pairs of front and back side gores, each of the first-mentioned front gores being provided adjacent to the top thereof with laterally spaced fastening members and the front gore of each pair of side gores being provided adjacent to the upper outer cor- .ner. thereof. with a fastening member adapted to cooperate with the fastening members on the adjacent central front gore when the pairs of side gores are folded in front of their respective centrally arranged front gores, and laterally spaced fastening members detachably connecting, the upper endsof the front and back gores of each pair of side gores, the last-mentioned fastening members extending laterally outwardly from pointsclosely'adjacent to the upper ends of the centrally arranged front and back gores,
