Jfifl/V J1 07. 2155 "ff BY United States Patent U CGP/IPACT SHAV JG KY1 John Sottile, Mariners Harbor, N. Y.
Application October 15, 1953, Serial No. 336,191
1 Claim. (Cl. 229-215) This invention relates to shaving kits.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a compact shaving kit which may be carried around in ones pocket and which is particularly adapted for travel and military use. It is another object of the present invention to provide a compact shaving kit which includes a mirror, soap, a safety razor and blades, a shaving brush and a container for the same.
For other objects and a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the invention shown closed;
Fig. 2 is a similar View but showing the cover in an open position;
Fig. 3 is a bottom perspective view of the invention with the bottom cover open and Fig. 4 is a sectional view taken along the line 44 of Fig. 1.
Referring now to the figures, represents a compact having a top wall 11 provided with a rectangular opening 12 in which is disposed shaving soap 13. A cover 14 is hingeably connected to one end of the compact 10 as at 15 and is provided on its inner face with a mirror 16. It will be noted that the cover 14 is provided with vent openings 17 to facilitate the drying of the soap 13 when not in use. A strap 18 is secured to the end of the cover 14 and mounts a female snap fastening element 19 which coperates with a male fastening element 20 provided in the end of the compact 10 for securing the cover 14 in a closed position (Fig. 1). As shown in Fig. 4, the bottom wall 21 of the compact is provided with prongs 22 which retain the soap against displacement. A strap 23 is pivotally connected to one end of the compact 10 and serves for carrying and hanging purposes. The bottom wall 21 is provided with a compartment 24, the top wall 11 forming the bottom of the compartment 24 (Fig. 4), a cover 25 being hingeably connected to the end of the compact as at 26. A strap 27 is secured to the end of cover 25 and mounts a female snap fastening element 28 adapted to cooperate with a male snap fastening element 29 provided on the bottom wall 21 to secure the cover 25 in a closed position. A safety razor 3%, a shaving brush 31 and a box of safety razor blades 32 are housed within the compartment 24 (Fig. 3).
As shown in Fig. 1, with the covers 14 and 25 snapped closed, the compact may be carried around by the strap 23 or carried in a pocket. When shaving, the cover 14 will be opened to provide the mirror 16 and the shaving soap 13 after the shaving brush 31 and razor 30 have been removed.
While various changes may be made in the detailed construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claim.
Having thus set forth and disclosed the nature of my invention, what is claimed is:
A compact shaving kit comprising a substantially flat rectangular casing, a first compartment at a first longitudinal end of said casing opening to the top of said casing, a second compartment at a second longitudinal end of said casing opening to the bottom of said casing, said first and second compartments lying between common parallel horizontal planes and being separated from each other by a transversely extending vertical wall disposed midway between said longitudinal ends of said casing, a first horizontal wall extending longitudinally from the lower edge of said vertical wall and forming a floor for said first compartment, a second longitudinal horizontal wall extending from the upper edge of said vertical wall in a direction opposite to said first horizontal wall and forming a floor for said second compartment, said vertical wall being of a height corresponding to the depth of each said compartment, a carrying handle disposed at said first longitudinal end of said casing, 21 first cover having vent openings hingedly connected to the top of said second longitudinal end adapted to overlie said first compartment, a second cover hingedly connected at the bottom of said second longitudinal end of said casing adapted to overlie said second compartment, said first cover extending between said second end and said first end of said casing and said second cover extending between said second end and said vertical wall of said casing, and releasable means for securing each of said covers in closed position.
