Description

M. J. HARDING.
TOILET ACCESSORY CONTAINER. APPLICATION FILED JULY 5,1919.
1,346,541 I. Patented July 13, 1920.
56 ,1? Jml.\ li5 m M 24 ATTORNEY ti.l'lZELET-ACCESSORY Gilli) Application filed July 5, 1919.
To all whom it m my concern lie it known that l, Marceau-1 J. llamaine residing at New York, county oi Ilew York, and State 01" New York, have invented certain new and useful improvepreferably made of metahadapted to cornpartly 'contain a number of articles needed in the performance of a mans toilet, the several articles being closely packed in small compass readily carried,
This and other like objects are attained by the novel. construction and combination of parts hereinafter described and shown in the accompanying drawings, forming an important part of this specification, and in which Figure 1 is a topplan view of a case filled with toilet articles, the cover being shown in an open or raised position, and
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the container when emptied of its contents.
The case or container consists of a rec tangular metallic box having a bottom from which rise imperforate side walls 11 and 12, respectively at the rear and front, joined by end walls 14 and 15, the same being of double construction so as to present a ledge 16 around the entire structure.
A hinge 18, of the piano box type connects a cover 19 having extending edges 20 adapted to partially envelop the top of the case and rest upon the ledge 16.
Adjacent to the end 1 1 is a compartment 22 formed by a transverse partition wall 23 extending partially across the interior and joined by an end wall 24; extending longitudinally within the casing are two other partition walls 25 and 26, while from the latter extends a short transverse partition wall, 27, notches28 being formed in the wall so as to permit the fingers to readily engage with articles in the compartments, respectively 30 and 31 at the front, the same being adapted to contain a small. cake or bar of soap 50, and a package of talcum powder 51.
The center longitudinal compartment 32 is suited to receive a shaving brush 52 having a hollow handle 53 in which may be Specification 01'' Letters Patent.
Patented nlly 313, Serial Elle. 303,695.
contained soap-powder, a styptic pencil or other like articles, the same being secured in place by the screw cap 5 1, i
The rear longitudinal compartment is adapted to hold a collapsible tube 55 containing tooth paste. A plu 56, iiormin, handle of the razor is as oi the tube, while beyond and is positioned a 0th brush 58, a comb being placed between the back of the tooth brush and the rear Jitll 11 of the case.
ln the end compartment 22 is contained the safety razor trains or body and a package of razor blades 61. Engaged to the inner side of the cover 19 is a mirror Gel preferably of highly polished metal proyided with a single perforation by which it may be suspended from a nail or like projection any convenient point so as to be used in performing toilet operations such '58 similar perforations 37 and 33 being formed in the wall 15 adjacent to the end of the shaving brush 52 and soap 5O respectively,
From the foregoing it will be seen that a neat and serviceable toilet case has been disclosed particularly adapted for soldiers and travelers and that the same forms a useful adjunct to the kit or luggage carried by such persons whereby they are enabled to perform their toilet in a convenient manner.
It will be noted that the transverse wall 23 projects rearwardly beyond the longitudinal partition 25, thus forming in the, compartment 33 a projection or shoulder which will act as a stop to hold in place, or at least restrict in its longitudinal movement, a nail file 60 which, together with a pair of tweezers 61, is located at the front of the widened right-hand portion of said com artment 33.
en the lid or cover 19 is down, it engages the upper edges of the walls or partitions 23, 24c, 25, 26 and 27, and thus practically shuts ofi each of the compartments of the box from its neighbors, except that the compartments 30 and 31 communicate with the compartment .32, by means or" the ilt":
has no communication with the outside air notches 28. Air entering through the openings 36 practically reaches only the toothbrush compartment 33. On the other hand, a circulation of air is possible through the compartment 31 and 32 containing soap -notch 28. The compartment 22, containing the body of the razor and the razor blades,
when the box is closed. Thus the several compartments difler'as to their connection with the outside air, the most abundant air supply being provided for the compartments 31 and 32, in which are placedthe articles likely to be in the wettest condition.
Having thus described my invention and set forth the manner of its construction and use, what I claim as new and desire to secure .by Letters Patent, is
As a new article of manufacture, a box body having a plurality of partitions dividing it into compartments, the said partitions extending upwardly to the same level, and a cover adapted to engage the upper edges of said partitions when it is down, sundry of said compartments communicating with each other when the cover is down, through openings in the respective partitions, and the wall of the body having openings leading to two of said communicating compartments, whereby a circulation of outside air may be effected through said communicating compartments, the wall of the body being further provided with an opening leading to one of the other compartments, and being imperforate where it bounds still another compartment.
In testimony whereof I have afiixed my signature.
