This invention relates to new and useful improvements in cases or receptacles and has particular relation to a case or receptacle for receiving a safety razor and blades for the razor.

An object of the invention is to provide a case or receptacle including a razor blade box having an open end and hinged at one end to the case in such a manner that the box may be opened and blades taken therefrom and replaced therein without removing the box from the case.

Another object is to provide a case, as stated and including a razor blade box hinged as and for the purpose stated and having a slotted side giving easy access to the blades in the box, and which when swung on its hinge to closed position is yieldingly held n such position whereby to prevent accidental opening of the box and to securely hold and protect the razor blades in the box.

A further object is to provide a case or receptacle including a body and a cover hinged to the body for movement between open and closed position, means being provided n the body to divide the same into a plurality of compartments shaped to receive respectively the head and handle of a safety razor and to receive a box adapted to contain blades for the razor.

Other objects and advantages will become apparent from a consideration of the following detailed description taken 1n connection with the accompanying drawing wherein an embodiment of the invention is shown. However, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the details disclosed but includes such variations and modifications as fall within the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claims to which claims reference may be had for a definition of the invention.

Referring in detail to the drawing the improved razor case as here disclosed includes a body 6 which as here shown is somewhat elongated although it will be understood that the case may take any desired configuration. Hinged to one longitudinal edge of the body (3 is a cover 7 including side flanges 8, the hinge between the parts being designated 9 and being in the nature of a piano hinge.

\Vithin the body 6 is a filler or partitioning member or means 10 which with the body 6 forms a plurality of compartments 11, 12 and 13. The compartment 11 is shown as at the rear of the body and as elongated and running for substantially the length of the body and this compartment is especially adapted to receive the handle 14 of a safety razor. Compartment 12 is adapted to receive the head 15 of a safety razor and the compartment 13 receives a safety razor blade box 16.

The partitioning means 10 may be formed from a single piece of material having its edges downturned to provide flanges 17 adapted to engage thebottom wall of the body 5' and limit the extent to which the means may be inserted into the body. As clearly shown the means 10 extends a short distance above the side walls of the body 6 and this extending portion of the means is received within the side flanges 8 of the cover 7 when the coverv is in closed position. From this it will be understood that the edges of the flanges 8 of the cover abut the upper edges of the side walls of the body when the cover is in closed position.

Compartment 11 for the razor handle 14 is formed by bending down the flanges 18 which form the side walls or edges of the compart- (iii ment, and the compartment 12 for the razor head 15 is formed by the side flanges 19 and end flanges 20, all of said flanges being formed from the material of the partitioning means.

It will be noted that portions of the flanges 20 are depressed as at 21 to provide space for a finger and thumb to be used in removing the guard 22 of the razor head in order that a blade may be placed over the stem 23 of the head.

Compartment 13 includes side flanges 24: and end flanges 25, and these flanges are also formed by pressing down portions of the partitioning means 10. In this connection it will be noted that the various flanges forming the compartments 11, 12 and 13 do not engage the bottom wall of the body 6 of the case, but it will also be noted that such lower wall of the case forms the bottom wall of each of the compartments.

The bladev box 16 includes a solid top or outer wall 26 extending beyond the ends of the box as at 27 and 28 and the box is further open at its end 29 and slotted in one side as at 30. The box having an open end and being slotted at one side ready access may be had to razor blades 16a within the box and blades may therefore be easily and quickly removed from the box. Further, since the box 16 is slotted as at 30 the sides 31 of the box will be to some extent compressible toward one another and this ability to yield is utilized for the purpose of securing the box is closed position as will later appear.

At its end 28 the topor wall 26 of the box carries hinge parts 32 whereby the box may be hinged to the partitioning means as shown at 33 .in Figs. 1 and 2. The box is adapted to be moved on the hinge 33 from a closed position as shown in full lines in Figs. 1 and 4 to an open position as shown by dotted lines in Fig. 1 and solid lines'in Fig. 2. Compartment 13 is of a size to neatly receive-the box 16 and therefore when the box is within the compartment the end 27 of the top walls 26 of the box extends over the partitioning means and forms a means under which a fingernail play he slipped to raise the box to open posiion.

When the box is moved to closed position its side walls 31 engage the side flanges 24 of the compartment 18 and the box is frictionally'held in closed position. lVhen it is desired to use the razor the guard 22 is removed and the box 16 swung to open position. A blade taken from the box may then be placed over the threaded stud 23, the guard replaced and the handle 14 threaded onto the stud. It will be noted that the blades maybe inserted into the box 16 and removed therefrom without removing the box from the case. 1

Having thus set forth the nature of my invention, what I claim is:

1. In a case of the class described, a body,

a cover hinged to the body for movement' wall spaced from the bottom thereof and hav- I ing an opening therein, a razor blade box,

means hinging said box at one end for mo ve- -ment into and out of said opening, and sa d box open at its free end to permit the razor blades to be taken therefrom and inserted therein without removing the box from the case.

2. In a case of the class described, a body, a cover'hinged to the body for movement between open and closed position, a partitioning means in said body and having a wall spaced from the bottom thereof and having an opening therein, a razor blade box,-means hinging said box at one end for movement into andout of said opening, said box having an open end and a slotted side giving ready access to the blades in the box when the box is swung on its hinge to a position out ofthe compartment.

3. In a case of the class described, a'body,

a cover hinged to the body for movement between open and closed posit-ion, a partitioning means in'said body and having a wall spaced from the'bottom thereof andhaving an opening therein and downwardly extending walls at the side-edges of said opening whereby a compartment is formed, a razor blade'box, means hinging said box at one end for movement into and out of said compartment, and said box having a side wall adapted to yieldingly engage one of said downwardly extending side walls of the compartment to frictionally secure the box in its closed position within the compartment to prevent accidental movement of the boxout of the compartment.

4. In a case of the class described, a body, a cover hinged to the body for movement between open and closed position, a partitioning means in said body and having a wall spaced from thebottom thereof and having an opening therein and downwardly extending walls at the side edges of said opening whereby a compartment is formed, a razor blade box, means hinging said box at one end for movement into and out of said compartment, said box having an open end and a slotted side giving ready access to theblades in the box when the box is swung on its hinge to a position out of the compartment, said slot in the box extending through the open end of the box whereby the latter is resilient, and the walls of the box at each edge of the slotted side thereof adaptedto yieldingly engage the side walls of the compartment to 'frictionally secure the box in its closed position within the compartment to prevent accidental movement of the box out of the compartment.

5. Ina case of the class described, abody,

a cover hinged to said body, a partitioning means in said body having a wall spaced from the bottom thereof and having an opening therein with a downwardly extending wall at one end thereof, a razor blade box pivoted adjacent the other end of the opening to permit movement of the box into and out of the opening, said box having a top wall to close the opening and depending side walls and an end wall at the pivoted end, the opposite end being open for insertion and removal of the blades and closed by the depending wall of the partitioning means when the box is in the opening.

6. In a case of the class described, a body, a cover hinged to said body, a partitioning means in said body having a wall spaced from the bottom thereof and having an opening therein with downwardly extending walls at the side edges and one end of the opening, a razor blade box hinged adjacent the other end of the opening for movement into and out of the opening, said box having a top wall to close the opening and dependa cover hinged to the body for movement between open and closed position, a partitioning means in said body and having a wall spaced from the bottom thereof and having an opening through said wall, a razor blade box, means hinging said box at one end to said partitioning means at a point spaced from said opening and for movement into and out of said opening, and said box open at its free end to permit razor blades to be taken therefrom and inserted thereinwithout removing the box from the case.
