JOHN J. ZINSEL, OF MONROE, LOUISIANA.
RAZOR-CASE AND TOOL-BOX COMBINED.
SPECIFICATION forming part-0f Letters Patent No. 587,418, dated August 3, 1897.
Application led March 10, 1897.
Combined; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to razor-cases or combination tool-boxes for the use of barbers and other purposes, and is designed to form a convenient receptacle for the different implements that are used by a barber.
The object of the invention is to provide simple and convenient means for supporting razors and storing scissors, combs, the., of a portable nature, and adapted for other purposes to which it may be applied.
In the drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of the improved case or combination toolbox, showing. the lid raised. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical central section ofthe case or tool-box with the lid or cover closed.
Referring to the drawings, wherein like numerals of reference are employed to indicate corresponding parts in the several views, the numeral l designates an outer case having a compartment 2 in the body thereof for the storage or reception of suitable tools-such as tweezers, clippers, and other analogous devices-and extending across one end of the box. In addition to the compartment 2 is a larger compartment 3, which is divided or partitioned for the reception of various implements, and each of the compartments 2 and 3 is supplied with hinged lids or covers -l and 5, the cover 4 opening toward the end of the box and the cover 5 toward the rear side of the same. The lid or cover of the case proper, as shown in Fig. 1, is provided with arazor-rack consisting of aseries of partitionribs 6, integrally formed with a base 7. Between each pair of ribs the said base is concave, as at 8, so that the razor maybe readily placed between the ribs or removed therefrom, and each of the said ribs is constructed with an overhanging shoulder 9 to retain the razor in position when placed therein. It will be observed that the ribs of the razor-rack do Serial No. 626,729. (No model.)
not extend across the entire width of the lid or cover of the case proper, thereby providing easy means when the saidvlid or cover is raised for inserting a razor iI` position between a pair of the ribs or removing it therefrom. When the said lid or cover of the case proper is closed, the rack is of such thickness as not to touch or interfere with the compartments or their lids or covers, and the entire device provides convenient means for supporting the implements or tools of a barber during the tonsorial process.
It is obviously apparent that the lids or covers of the several compartments may be suitably embellished with pleasing designs or covered with plush and the box or case as an entirety ornamented in any suitable manner. A handle is provided at the front of the case proper, so that the device as an entirety can be conveyed from one point to another; and it will be observed in this connection that the razor-rack is so arranged that when thelid or cover of the case proper is closed down and the latter raised by its handle for the purpose of transportation the open ends between the ribs will be tightly closed and thereby prevent the razors from falling out of position.
It is obviously apparent that many minor changes in the details of construction might be made and substituted for those shown and described without in the least departing from the nature or spirit of the invention.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is A razor-case or combination tool-box of the character set forth comprising a case proper having a series of compartments therein with suitable covers, a lid or cover for the case proper having a razor-rack on the inner side thereof, and comprising a series of ribs extending partially across the inner face of the said cover and provided with overhanging shoulders, and concavities at the base thereof, substantially as and for the purposes specified.
In testimony whereof` I have signed this specification' in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JOHN J. ZINSEL. Witnesses:
