FOLDING COMBINATION TOILET ARTICLE.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RANSOM Y. Bovnn, a. at Maywood, in the county of Cook and tate of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Folding Combination Toilet Articles, of which the following is a specification.
his invention relates to improvements in folding combination toilet article, and one of the objects of the invention is to provide an improved article of this character in which there is combined a plurality of toilet articles all adapted to be compactly folded when not in use, a portion of the device being shaped to form a storage receptacle which will not interfere with any of the other articles. A further object is to provide an improved article of this character embodying a foldable razor deviceand to provide an improved construction of razor. 4
To the attainment of these ends and the accomplishment of other new and useful objects as will appear, the invention consists in,
the features of novelty insubstantially the construction, combination and arrangement of the several parts hereinafter more fully described and claimedand shown in the accompanying drawings illustrating this invention and in which- Figure 1 is a side elevation showing the parts in a partially folded position.

.of a single piece of suitable sheet material bent into shape to form spaced side walls 2021, connected by a transverse piece 22,
at one edge thereof and which transverse piece is provided with an opening 23, ex-
tending, through one edge thereof, for a purpose to be hereinafter set forth. The opposite ends of the side walls of the easi thus formed are provided respectively wlth laterally pro'ecting portions 2425, which abut each ot er and serve as a means for spacing that end of the casing. The
walls of the casin adjacent these portions 24-25, are prefera ly depressed as at 26-27, in directions toward each other and the depressed portions are provided with registering openings 28, having laterally projectin IIbS 29, adjacent each of the openings.
ivotally mounted between these extremities of the side walls of the casing is a combined comb and brush designated generally by the reference numeral 30, and which Is of an integral construction. One end thereof is provlded with an opening 31, having a depression 32, which is adapted to receive the respective lugs or projections 26-27, on the side walls of the casing when the comb and brush are folded into the casing and when it is unfolded for use, thereby serving as a means for yieldingly holding the same in position, the comb and .brush bemg mounted for movement about --a' suitable pivot pin or lug 33. .Carried by the other end' of the comb and brush is a finger engagin portion 34, which, when the brush is fold ed into the casing will project beyond the casing to serve as a means whereby the same may be moved about its pivot to an unfolded position. A shoulder 35, is provided on the comb and brush and this shoulder is adapted to engage the laterally projecting lugs 24--25, and which latter operate as a stop for limiting the opening movement of the comb and brush. The cutaway portion 23, in the connecting portion 22, of the casing is adapted to receive the lug 34, of the comb when the same is folded so as to permit the comb and brush to be entirely housed within the casing.
Pivotally connected at another point between the walls of the casing is a nail file 36, which moves about the pivot 37, and
with an aperture 40, in one end thereof and a so a lug 41, projecting laterally from the holder adjacent the opening 40. This razor blade holder 1s .of any desired size but preferably embodies a body portion having spaced lugs.

. by means of which it may be moved about its pivot. The holder is connected with the casing in any suitable manner but preferably by means of the pivot 37 and is adapted when not in ,use to be folded into the casing, preferably adjacent one of the side walls thereof and spaced stops or shoulders 39, 39 are provided to cooperate with portions of the casing walls to limit the movements of the element in opposite directions.
A razor blade 46, is adapted to be used in connection with the holder and this blade is provided with apertures 47, adapted to receive the lugs 42, on the holder 39. When the blade is placed within the holder, a s ring retaining plate 48, is placed upon the b ade and inserted beneath the lugs 44, of the turned over portion 43. This late 48, is preferably arched and is provi ed with a longitudinal groove or depression 49, in the crown thereof adapted to receive the lugs 42, and if desired a roughened portion 50, may be provided upon the plate by means of whlch 1t may be readily manipulated. The plate is preferably inserted in place upon the holder from one end thereof and then moving the same longitudinally upon the blade.
With this improved construction of blade holder it is possible to use the razor with either the right or left hand.
In Fig. 15, of the drawing there is shown a modified form of razor constructed in a similar manner and as shown in Fig. 15, the blade holder 51, is provided with an arched portion 52, along one edge similar to the portion 43, and the other edge 53, of the holder'is provided with apertures or openings 54, therethrough adjacent one edge thereof, the handle 55, being connected to the holder 51, in any suitable manner. Thus it will be seen that this construction of razor blade may also .be employed in a detached holder. v
In order to maintain the articles 36 and 39, in position, and in addition to the lugs 37*, and the respective slots 41, on the ' articles 36 and 39, the pivot 37, is provided with a flange 56, intermediate its ends and intermediate the articles 39 and 36, as shown more clearly in Fig. 18. i
The pivot 37, is provided at its ends with upset portions 57 seated in the depressed portions 58, in the side walls 20-21 of the casing. The "flange 56, is spaced from the articles 36-39, and spring washers 59, shown more clearly in Fig. 4, are arranged intermediate.the flange 56, on each side thereof, and the respective articles 36-39, and these spring washers are emplo ed adjacent the ivot of each of the foldab e artic es. Thus it will be seen that there is a spring tension exerted at all times upon the articles at their pivots, tending normally to cause the lugs and slots which hold the articles in position, to interengage.
One of the side walls of the casing is provided with guides 60, arranged along opposite sides thereof and extending longitudinally thereof. These guides are formed in any suitable manner, preferably by flanging over portions of the edges of the walls. A mirror 61, which is preferably constructed of a single sheet of highly polished material is ada ted to be inserted in the guides by means 0 a handle 62, the guide 60 also serves to hold the mirror spaced from the casing wall to prevent injury to the mirror surface. The mirror is adapted to be freely removed for use when desired and re-inserted and may be secured against accidental displacement within the guides in any suitable manner such as by means of a boss or lug 63, projecting therefrom which has frictional engagement with the wall of the casing.
A suitable opening 64, may be provided in one of the walls of the casing by means of which a chain may be, attached.

side wall and forms a storage receptacle adapted to receive an article, such as the razor blade 46. The razor blade is preferably magnetized so that when it is inserted in the receptacle 65, it will be held against accidenta displacement and will permit the mirror 61, to be inserted and removed without interfering with or disturbing the razor blade 46 within the receptacle 65. The mirror thus forms a closure for the receptacle 65.
In the form of the invention shown in Figs. 6 and 7, one of the walls of the casing is provided with a pluralit of depressed portions 66-67 which open t rough the wall and form separate receptacles, the receptacle 66, is provided with a hinged closure 68,
- and the receiptacle 67, is adapted to receive a powder pu 69. Both of these receptacles together with the closure 68, and the powder puff 69, are so constructed that they will not interfere with the movement of the mirror in. the guides or ways 60, and when it is desired to gain access to either of the receptacles 66-67, the mirror 61, may be readily removed.
With this improved construction it will be manifest that a very compact structure is provided and that several implements necessary for toilet purposes have been combined into a simple structure, of such a size that the implements may be readily unfolded when desired for use and folded within the casing whenthe device is not in use and which article may bereadily carried in a pocket without taking up much room.
Obviously many changes may be made in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, within the scope of the claims, without e arting from the spirit of this invention.

mirror out of-contact with the said casing wall, access being readily had to the receptacle when the said mirror is removed.

of said articles constituting a razor blade holder, means adjacent the pivot of each of the articles for yieldingly holding the respective articles in folded and unfolded positions with relation to the casing, and a finger engaging portion adjacent the free end of the razor blade holder by means of which the latter may be moved about its pivot.

An article of the character described embodying a casing, a plurality of articles pivotall connected therewith and adapted to be fo ded into and out of the casing, one of said articles constituting a razor blade holder, means adjacent the ivot of each of the articles for yieldingly spective articles in folded and unfolded positions with relation to the casing, one of the casing walls having a depressed portion formin an open receptacle, a razor blade magnetically held within the receptacle, and an element removably connected with the casing wall and constituting a cover for th razor blade. v
