Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
NICHOLAS J. HAMILTON, OF CHATHAM, KENTUCKY.
OVERALLS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 264,690, dated September 19, 1882.
Application filed .Tune 16, 1882. (No model.)
To all whom tt may concern:
Be it known that I, NICHOLAS J. HAMILTON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chatham, in the county of Bracken and State of Kentucky, have invented certain new'and useful Improvements in Overalls, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to a new and improved article of manufacturein overalls, theconstruction of which will be hereinafter fully set forth, and pointed out in the claim.
In the drawings, Figure l is a front eleva tion 5 Fig. 2, a rear elevation, and Fig. 3 a view of an apron employed in connection with my overalls.
A represents the legs ot' the overalls, the upper front portions ot' which are secured to the waistband a, having extensions a a' for fastening them around the waist, and the rear upper portions of which are cut away around the seat in order to permit perfect freedom of movement to the person.
B is the body portion of the overalls. It is cut to fit over the breast and abdomen of the person, and buttons to the waistband a, as shown, and is provided with arms b, and is secured around the person by the neckband b' and body-bands b2, as shown.
D is the apron, used when the body portion is not. It buttons to the waist a by the button-holes d, and the upper portion is bnttoned around the neck, as shown by the flaps d. The iiap portion d2 extends down the legs of the person, andthe apron effectually protects the entire front portion of the body from dirt.
The advantages I secure by this construetion of the overalls are that vthe body is eti'ectually protected from dirt without the inconvenience of a complete casing ot' overalls, that perfect freedom of the body is permitted, and that either portion ot the overalls-legs, body, or apron-can be used independently of the 0th er.
The overalls formed of the pants A, having the waistband a, provided with projecting ends a', and having the seat cut away, and ofthe body B, provided with arms b,'neckhand b, and body-band b2, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I afx my signature in t presence 0I' two witnesses.
NICHOLAS J. HAMILTON.
