Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
' MANROE HENRY HARDEN, OF JAMESPORT, MISSOURI.
sU'sPENsoRY BAN DAG E.
SPECIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 567,343, dated September 8, 1896.
Application filed April 28, 1896.
VTo all whom it may concern:
Be it known that LMANROE HENRY HAEDEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Jamesport, in the county of Daviess and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Suspensory Bandages; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention has relation to suspensory bandages, and more particularly to that class of appliances in which the male organs of a healthy well-developed adult person are compressed and prevented from protruding` and presenting an unsightly appearance in the trousers when the party is dressed; and to these ends the novelty consists in the construction, combination, and arrangement of the parts of the same, as will be hereinafter more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings the same letters of reference refer to like parts of the invention.
Figure l is a front view in perspective of my improved suspensory bandage as it would appear in position on an adult male. Fig. 2 is asimilar view withthe ap open; and Fig. 3 is a crosssection of the body of the bandage, showing the pocket formed by the flap.
A is a waistband provided with an ordinary strap and buckle for adjusting the same to the body above the hips and next to the iiesh, and this band or belt has secured in front two buttons a a' and on the back two more buttons b b'.
C is the bandage proper, and it consists of a main body D, from which integrally extend upwardly two straps d d, provided with buckles d cl', to which are attached two independent straps E E',havingbuttonholes e e', `by means of which the upper end of the band- Serlal No. 5 89,3 98. (No model.)
age is secured to the band A and a pair' of similar integral straps G G', which extend rearwardly and upwardly, their ends being provided with buckles g g, which engage two independent straps I-I H', the ends of which are provided with buttonholes h h' for securing the lower end of said bandage to the buttons b h'.
I is'a flap formed integral with one side of the bandage C, extending over the longitudinal opening K, and its free end L is provided with a series of buttonholes t', which engage the buttons n on the other side of the opening K, and by reference to the cross-section it will be noticed that the ilap is made longer to simply cover the opening K, thereby forming a pocket N.
Having thus fully described my invention,
what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is- A suspensory bandage oomprisin g the waistbelt A, the buttons d, d' and b, b secured to the front and back of said belt respectively, the body portion D formed with the integral straps d CZ provided with buckles d d', the independent straps E E' having buttonholes e e', the straps G G formed integral with the rear part of said bodyA portion D, and provided with buckles g g', to which are adjustably secured the independent straps H H', the ends of which are formed with buttonholes t h' and the vertical iiap Iformed integral with the said body portion D and provided with the buttonholes z' 11 by means of which it may be removably secured to the buttons N N on said body portion, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
MANROE HENRY I-IARDEN.
Witnesses:
