Patented. Sept. 1 9, 1882.
INVENTOR N. PETERS. Pnuw-Lilbqn lur. Wnhlnglan. DJ;
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
AUGUSTA NETZNER, on NEW YORK, N. Y.
'SUSPE'N'DER-END.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 264,557, dated September I9, 1882.
Application filed March 1882. (ModeL) To all whom it may concern I Be it known that I, AUGUSTA. NETZNER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Suspender-Ends, of which the following is a full,'clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in the suspender-ends for attachingthe Suspender bands or straps to the pants. 7
The invention consists in a Suspender-end formed of crossed bands held together at the crossings by rings which pass over one part or strand of the band and under the other part or strand.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.
Figure 1 is a longitudinal View of one of my improved Suspender-ends. Fig. 2 is a diagonal cross-sectional view of the same on' the line" :10 m, Fig. 1.
The suspenderend is composed of two straps, A, which are united at the upperends bymeans ot a leather, cloth, or other loop, B, through which the buckle-ring G is passed. Each strap A is formed of a band, D, which is crossed and passed through one or more rings, E, to form a series of loops, F F &c. The band D is crossed within the rings in such a manner that one part or Strand of the band passes below the ring E, and the other passes over it-- that is, one part or strand of the band passes ungether at the crossings.
der the ring and over the other strand or part of the band which passes over the rings and under the first part or strand-whereby the two strands or parts of the band will be held to The rings E can be shifted and adjusted while on the band by pushing them up and down, whereby the loops F F ,'&c., can be increased or decreased in size, as may be desired. The lowest loop, E, is to receive the button. The crossed parts of the bands can thus be held together without requiring any stitching, tying, knotting,
binding, bending of plates, or winding otcords,
and, as'stated above, the sizes of the loops can be adjusted or varied very easily.
The bands D can be made of leather, t-loth, plain or braided, twisted or knotted cords, or any other suitable material.
The rings E can be made of any metal, ivory, celluloid, rubber, horn, tortoise-shell, 85c, and
can be plain or ornamental, and can be made polygonal or oval, as well as circular, circular rings being preferred.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent In Suspender-ends, the combination, with the crossed band D, of the rings E, passing under one part or strand ot' the band and over the other part or strand at the crossings, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
AUGUSTA NETZNER.
