Description

Feb. 14, 1939. R. TILLY 2,147,179
GARMENT SUPPORTER Filed Oct. 11, 1938 INVENTOR.
]Z07aerZ- may 1 K/Qu W ATTORNEYS Patented Feb. 14, 1939 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE GARMENT SUPPORTER Robert Tilly, New York, N. Y. Application October 11, 1938, Serial No. 234,410
3 Claims. (C1. 24-245)- This invention relates to garment supporters and has particular reference to a hose supporter of the clasp type embodying improved means for fastening the parts thereof in assembled relation.
The invention comprehends an improved connector element which is slotted to receive the upper end of the button carrying tab and. which is adapted to hingedly couple the supporting loop and the clasp loop in adjacent relation with the end of the tab which protrudes through the slot anchored beneath the adjacent leads of the loops and the body of the connector.
The invention further provides a connector element of the indicated character having a tongue clampingly engaging over the adjacent leads of the supporting and clasp loops with the protruding end of the tab anchored between the said leads and the body of the connector and having spaced prongs for clampingly embracing the opposite side leads of the restricted portion of the clasp loop.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, reference is now made to the following specification and the accompanying drawing in which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a hose supporter constructed in accordance with the invention.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the supporting lead.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the connector element.
Fig. 4 is a perspective View of the clasp loop.
Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the parts in assembled juxtaposition prior to the final bending of the connector element to secure the parts together.
Fig. 6 is a similar view showing the connector element after the final bending of the same to secure the parts in assembled relation.
Fig. 7 is an enlarged longitudinal sectional View on the line of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawing by characters of reference, the hose supporter includes a metallic loop l having an upper lead adapted to be amxed to a garment for supporting the hose supporter and having a lower lead |2 provided with a reduced intermediate downwardly ofiset portion I3 disposed parallel with and in juxtaposition to the upper lead M of a metallic clasp loop IS. The side leads of the clasp loop l adjacent the upper lead I4 are provided with inwardly directed offset portions I6 defining a restricted neck and adjacent thereto the side leads are expanded to provide a button receiving portion H .which por tion merges into a restricted button retaining bight portion IS.
Thebutton retaining bight portion I8 is adapted to cooperate in the usual manner with a button l9 secured to the lower end of a tab or strip of tape 20 for-engagement with a hose for supporting the same thereby. y In order to provide means whereby the supporting loop I'D, clasp loop I5 and tape 20 may be expeditiously and securely coupled together,
a connector element 2| is. provided which is stamped or otherwise produced from sheet material and which is formed with a tongue 22 upstruck from its upper edge and angularly disposed spaced prongs 23 upstruck from the bottom edge thereof adjacent the side edges and in the same direction as the tongue 22. The connector element 2| is further provided with a transversely extending elongated slot 24 disposed substantially centrally between the tongue 22 and the prongs 23.
In assembling the parts, the upper end of the tab 20 is inserted through the slot 24 of the connector element 2| with the protruding upper end thereof disposed in overlying relation with the rear wall thereof and with the end edge disposed adjacent to the tongue 22 as shown in Fig. 5. 25 The supporting loop Ill is disposed with the reduced intermediate portion l3 positioned upon the protruding portion of the tab 20 and longitudinally against the tongue 22. The clasp loop i5 is disposed with its upper lead M arranged upon the protruding portion of the tab 20 and parallel with and in juxtaposition to the reduced intermediate portion l3 in which position the inwardly offset portions It of the side leads are disposed against the inner surfaces of the prongs 23. The tongue 22 is then bent downwardly and inwardly over the reduced intermediate portion I3 and the adjacent upper lead I4 and clamps the same together with the protruding end of the tab 28 therebetween and the body of the connector element 2| as illustrated in Fig. 6. The prongs 23 are then bent downwardly and inwardly into embracing engagement with the inwardly offset portions l6 of the side leads to secure the same therebetween and the body of the connector element as shown in Fig. 6. After the connector element has been bent to clamp the parts together, as shown in Fig. 6, the button tab is reaved through the supporting loop l8 whereby it depends from and is disposed parallel to the clasp loop l5 as shown in Fig. 1.
From the foregoing it will be observed that a hose supporter has been devised which permanently and effectually secures the button tab in assembled relation to prevent accidental or unintentional disconnection of the parts thereof and by virtue of which the assembling and securement is accomplished in an expeditious and inexpensive manner.
What is claimed is:
l. A hose supporter including a supporting loop provided with a bottom lead having an intermediate ofiset restricted portion, a clasp loop having an upper lead disposed adjacent to and parallel with said intermediate restricted portion and having a button engaging lower end and inwardly directed offset side lead portions providing a restricted neck between the upper lead and the button engaging end, a tab provided with a button at the lower end thereof and a connector element having a transversely disposed slot and an upstruck upper end clampingly enaging over said intermediate restricted portion and upper lead of the clasp loop with the upper end of said tab protruding through said slot and clamped between the body of said connector and said intermediate offset portion of the supporting loop and upper lead of the clasp loop, and said connector element having angularly disposed spaced prongs upstruck from the bottom edge thereof adjacent the side edges embracingly engaging over the said inwardly directed side lead portions of said clasp loop.
2. A hose supporter including a supporting loop provided with a lower lead, a clasp loop having an upper lead disposed adjacent to and parallel with said lower lead of the supporting loop and having a button engaging lower end and inwardly offset side lead portions providing a restricted neck between said upper lead and button engaging end, a tab provided with a button at the lower end thereof,. and a connector element having a transversely disposed slot and upstruck tongues clampingly engaging over the adjacent leads of said supporting and clasp loops and over the inwardly directed side lead portions of said clasp loop with the upper end of said tab protruding through said slot and clamped between the body of said connector and the adjacent leads of said supporting and clasp loops.
3. In a hose supporter, a supporting loop, a clasp loop, a tab provided with a button and a common means for connecting said loops and for anchoring said tab, comprising a transversely slotted connector element having an inturned upper edge impinging adjacent leads of said loops against the upper end of the tab protruding through said slotted portion of said connector element to secure the protruding end thereof between said loop leads and the body of the connector.
