Be it known that I, JAMES B. Hoots, a citizen of the United States of America, re:- siding at Columbus, in the county of Frank? lin and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and usefullmprovements in Garment- Supporters, of which the following is a specification.

My present invention relates generally to garment supporters, and more particularly to that type of garment supporter adapted for connection with the upper edge of trousers in order to effectively present Suspender and undergarment attaching means as well as form a convenient belt engaging and guide loop, the object of my invention being the provision of a readily attachable mem her having provision for rigid lasting engagement with trousers, which may be quickly and cheaply manufactured and will establish a firm and substantial connection or fastening in use.

Referring now to these figures my improved supporter includes an inverted U- shaped body portion 10 formed by bending lengthwise spaced portions 11 and 12 of an elongated rectangular blank such as shown in Fig. 7 upon themselves in parallel spaced relation. These portions of the blank form the inner and outer sides of the downwardly opening body, between which t receive the upper edge 13 of trousers as lndlcated in Fig. 2. That portion of the blank lying beyond the outer side 11 of the body of the supporter and indicated at 14 is also bent into inverted U-shape to form a downwardly opening belt receiving loop or hook whose inner wall or side 15 parallels the outer wall 11 of the body in close uniform contact therewith and is provided at each side with Specification of Letters Patent. a series of outwardly projecting tapering spurs 16 which, upon angular bending to the active position of Fig; da t opposite'sides of the body, are adapted to be forced through the adjacent portions of the upper edge 13 of the trousers, these spurs being of sulficient length to extend in this position rearwardly beyond the body 10 so that they may be subsequently bent at their inner ends toward one another against the rear wall 12 of the body and in this way clenched to avoid subsequent danger of disengagement and for the further purpose their points against catching garments.

The belt receiving loop or engaging hook generally indicated at 17 is somewhat longer than the body 10 and the free end of its outer wall is flared as at 18, its upper end being curved to present rounded edges or corners and thus avoid scratching or otherwise abrading the adjacent engaged portion of the belt.

The lower end of the inner wall 12 of the body has an extension forming an upwardly opening hook 19 for engagement by and support of an undergarment and this wall adjacent to the upper end of the body has an integral struck up lug 2O bent to form a downwardly opening book which opposes the book 19 and forms a suspender engaging member so that with the device as thus de scribed in its complete form, I provide for all functions likely to be desirable in a supporter of this nature and permit of its manufacture at the same time by simple bending operations of the lengthwise spaced. portions of an elongated blank such as shown in Fig. 7

A more simple form of the same device is shown in Fig. 6 in which the same construction as previously described is carried out in respect to the formation of the body 10 belt engaging hook 17 a and trouser engaging spurs 16, but in which the inner hooks l9 and 20 previously described are omitted.

A garment supporter formed of a single elongated blank and having a downwardly opening body portion of inverted U-shape whose spaced apart walls are adapted to embrace the upper edge of trousers, and a. downwardly opening belt receiving hook of inverted U-shape whose inner wall parallels, and forms an upward continuainto adjacent of protectingv tion of the lower end of the outer wall of the body portion and is in closely contacting relation therewith,

' belt hook having lengthwise series of angular spurs along opposite' sides projecting at the opposite sides of the body portion and terminating at their free ends beyond the inner wall of the body whereby their said free ends may be crimped inwardly toward one another along the inner wall of the body, as described.

' 2. A garment supporter formed of a single'elongated blank and having a downwardly opening body portion of inverted U-shape whose spaced apart walls are adapted to embrace the upper edge of trousers, and a downwardly opening belt receiving hook of inverted U-shape whose inner wall said inner wall-of said --wise series of angular parallels the outer wall of the body portion in closely contacting relation and haslengthspurs at opposite sides projecting inwardly along the opposite sides of the body portion and terminating at their free ends beyond the inner wall of the body, whereby the said free ends maybe bent toward one another upon the inner wall of the body, said inner wall of said body terminating at its lower end in an upwardly opening hook and'having an integral struck up portion adjacent to its upper end forming a downwardly opening hook opposing its said lower hook in spaced relation thereto. p
