INDM'N. l GRAHAM E0, FnOCvLITNDGRAPHEfIS, NASHIMJGNA D C.
ISAAC H. LOTT, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
I GARIVIENT-SUPPORTER.
Specication of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 15, 1905.
Application iled March 30, 1905. Serial No. 252,848.
To (all w/wm, it 'may concern:
will be securely retained in place ready for use at all times.
The device is illustrated in the accompanylng drawings, 1n which l Figure 1 is a perspective view thereof. Flg.
2 is a front View there0f. Fig. 3 is an inside elevation showing a waistband and illustrating the manner of use of the device. Fig. A is a section on theline 4 A of Fig. 3.
The device is made of a single piece of wire doubled upon itself to produce a bend at 6 and then bent to form an S-hook or two oppositely-directed hooks (indicated at 7 and 8) connected by the intermediate portions 9. The free ends of the wire are bent sharply in and up toward each other, as indicated at 10, and the points may be sharpened, as at 11.
In use these devices are applied to the waistband 12 of the trousers or other garment, the
hook 8 engaging over the waistband, with the hook 7 on the inside, and the tape-loop 13 or the like commonly attached to the waistband of the drawers, which is shown at 14, is engaged in said hook. This supports the inner garment. One of these devices is preferably located at each button 15 on the waistband, the device being slipped on so that the bars 8 straddle the attaching-threads of the button, and when pressed down to the full extent the points at the ends 10 are engaged in the attaching-threads of the button. This prevents the devices from unintentionally slipping ol the waistband and also holds them in-proper position thereon. The suspender-tab 16 is then buttoned over or outside the device, thereby concealing the same from observation.
It is obvious that the device may be very cheaply made, so that each pair of trousers may have its set of hooks continuously attached thereto, although a little manipulation will enable the same to be detached and applied to another pair of trousers, if and when desired.
What Iclaim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, ism
A garment-supporter comprising a doublehook the bills of which are. oppositely presented on opposite sides thereof, one of the hooks having spaced bars the ends of which have points projecting backwardly and inwardly toward each other.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specication in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
