Description

'A. N. TURNQUIST. GARMENT FAST ENER.
APPLICATION FILED MAX 23,1921.
Patented Aug. 8, 1922.
ALEXANDER N. TURNQ'UIST, GLENELLYN, ILLINOIS.
GARMENT FASTENEE.
Application filed May 23,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALEXANDER N. TURN- Uis'r. a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Glenellyn, in the county of Dupage and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garment Fasteners, of which the following is full, clear, and exact description.
The invention relates to devices adapted to be used on garments in lieu of buttons. Its object is to provide an improved device of this character which is simple in construction, can be produced at a low cost and which will hold a part as securely as a button does. I
The invention consists in the several novel features hereinafter set forth and more particularly defined by claims at the conclusion hereof.
In the drawing: Fig. 1 is a perspective of a portion of a pair of trousers embodying the invention Fig. 2 is a perspective of the fastening device.
The invention is exemplified in a device which, in its entirety, is formed of a strip of wire and comprises prongs or sharp pointed hoolzs a which are adapted to pass through the garment, upwardly and inwardly inclined legs or members 5, which are looped forwardly. as at c, and an intcrmediate substantially circular portion (Z disposed forwardly of the members I). The prongs of hooks a are adapted to extend forwardly'through the garment whilethe legs, or members 5 are disposed inside of the gar- Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented A11 8, 1922.
1921. Serial No. 471,565.
ment and the loops 0 are adapted to extend over the margin of the garment. cularportion (Z is adapted to pass through. a slit 6 in suspender f. The loops 0 are disposed closely together, so as to pass through a button-hole and the pendant circular portion or loop, being of considerable width, securely prevents any detachment of the sus pender from the fastening device. By using forwardly extending hooks a, the stresses are advantageously applied to the garment, so that movement of the fastening device,
The cirresulting from movement of the body, will not disconnect the hooks or prongs a from the garment.
The invention is not to be understoodas restricted to. the details set forth, since these may he I modified within the scope of the appended claim, without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is: I
A garment fastener formed of strip of metal and comprising hooks adapted to pass through a garment, upwardly extending members between the hooks to lie at the inside of the garment, and a downwardly extending loop oined to said members at their upper ends and disposed at the outside of the garment and in front of said members, said hooks extending forwardly from the memhers towards the loop and upwardly at the outer side of the garment. I
