Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 204,944, dated June 18, 1878 application filed September 11, 1877.

To all whom it may concer/n:

Be it known that I, AUGUST BRNHARD, of the cit-y of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cradles, of which the following is a clear, full, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view oi' my improved cradle. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical section of the same. Fig. 3 is a crosssection.

This invention relates to-'new and useful improvements in portable rocking-cradles; and the invention consists in the general construction and arrangement of parts, as will bc hereinafter fully described, and poin ted out in the claim.

In the drawings, A represents the frame, which rests upon the loor, consisting of the two side pieces a c', connected by the crosspieces B B. C C represent two posts on each side, firmly connected to the side pieces a a', and these posts on cach side are connected together at the top by cross-pieces c c. D is the crib, which may be constructed in any suitable manner. This crib "D is `supported by or rests upon the longitudinal rods E E, which are secured thereto by the hasps c c, and said rods are bent and extend vertically upward, and are removably journaled in the crosspieces c c, so that the crib is suspended by said rods, and allowed to oscillate transversely. The ends of the rods are provided with heads e', which fit in slots d in the cross-pieces, and the rods are supported or journaled in the metallic slotted journal-bearings h, said rods being,` held therein by the heads e.

When it is desired to remove the crib, the rods are raised up vertically, so as to allow the heads e' of the rods to be removed from the slots, which is accomplished by springing the ends of the rods toward the crib.

It will also be observed that the rods E E forni the cross-pieces upon which the slatted bottom of the crib can rest.

I am aware that supporting cribs upon double crank-rods is old, and such I do not claim, broadly, as my invention; but,

Having thus described my invention, what I do claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

The combination, with the stand .and crib, of the longitudinal bent rods E, passing beneath the bottom of the crib and extending from head to foot, whereby the crib :is saspended and a support is afforded for the slatts or other bottom, substantially as specified.
