IMPROVEMENT IN REVERSIBLE CUFFS,

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 201,818, dated March 26, 1878 application filed H February 16, 1878.

To all whom it may concern:

thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.

My invention relates to reversible cufl's made of linen, paper, or other suitable material; and it consists in providing such cuff with a reversible fly attached to it lengthwise at or near the middle, whereby the cuff can be worn four ways, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a cuff embodying my invention in position as it is while being worn. A represents an ordinary reversible cuff of any desired form and size, and made of linen, paper, or any other suitable material. This cuff is provided with a fly, B, attached to it lengthwise at or near the middle.

When the cuff is made of linen the main part A thereof is, as usual, made of different quality of material on the inside than on the outside-that is to say, the outside is always of the finest material. This outside finer linen is made in such a manner as to extend from one end of the cuff A to the center, then covering one side of the fly B. It then covers the other side of the fly, and out to the other end of the cuff.

This finer linen maybe of one or more pieces, as desired but in all cases it will be seen that the fly B has such finer material on both sides, while the main cufi A has it only on one side. In cuffs made of paper or other material it should also be made so that either side of the fly B can be used outwardly.

By the addition of this fly to an ordinary reversible cuff, it will readily be seen that the cuff can be Worn in four ways.

Having-thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. The central reversible fly B, attached to and forming an integral part of a reversible cuff, for the purposes set forth.

2. As a new article of manufacture, a reversible cuff, A, provided With a central reversible fly, B, substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
