IMPROVEMENT IN NECK-TIES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 160,806, dated March 16, 1875; application filed February 20, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALDEN J. ADAMS, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Oravats, of which the following is specification:
Figure l is a front view of a cravat to which my improvement has been applied, and Fig. 2 is a front view of the slide, showing the flap extended.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The object of this invention is to prevent the slide of a cravat or scarf from slipping down while the said cravat or scarf is being worn.
The invention consists in the combination of a flap, provided with a hook and eye or other fastening with the body of the slide, as hereinafter fully described.
A represents a cravat, about the construction of which there is nothing new. B is the slide, through which the ends of the oravat A are passed after being passed around the neck, and which may be so formed as to represent a knot. To the upper edge of the slide B is attached a flap, G, which is passed betweenthe parts of the cravat A, and is turned down upon the rear or inner side of said slide B. The end of the flap G is secured to the lower part of the inner side of the slide B by a hook and eye, as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1, by
a button and button-hole, as shown in Fig. 2,
