UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
' WILLIAM J. PAT'ION, OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
IMPRQVEMENT lN INSULATED BATH-TUBS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 195,388, dated September 18, 1877; application filed July 24, 1877.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM J. PATToN, of Little Rock, in the county of Pulaski and State of Arkansas, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Bath-Tubs; and 1 do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and gures of reference marked thereon.
Figure l of the drawings is a representation ot' my bath-tub, showing connections with the spring; and Fig. 2 is a horizontal sectional view thereof.
Invalids desirous of obtaining the benefits of medicinal water are frequently unable to leave their rooms and go to the bath at medicinal springs, and other persons prefer bathing in their rooms; and the object ot' my invention is to convey the water of the springcontaining medicinal properties from the spring to a. bath-tub in the chamber of the bather, and retain in the water its electricity as well as itscurative properties; and to these ends myinvention consists in the employment of a portable insulated bath-tub, provided with suitable' insulated pipes, connected with the supply or spring, and provided also with an insulated escape-pipe.
In the accompanying drawing, A represents a portable bath-tub, insulated by means of feet or supports B, of rubber or glass, attached directly to the bottom of the tub; or the bathtub may be supported by insulated rollers or casters.
C represents the inlet-pipe, which conveys the water from the spring to the bathtub, which pipe is made of glass or other suitable insulating material.
D represents the escape or waste pipe of the bath-tub, also made of insulating material.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. An insulated bath-tub, connected with the supply by a pipe made of insulating material, or a pipe insulated from all external objects, substantially as described, and for the purposes set forth.
2. An insulated bath-tub, connected with the supply by a pipe made of insulating material, or a pipe insulated from all external objects, and provided, also, with an insulated escape-pipe, substantially as described, and for the purposes set forth.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
' WILLIAM J. PATTON.
