is a specification.
The present invention relates to sanitary drinking fountains adapted to be attached to pumps and has for its purpose to provide a device .of that character which" 1s more simple in construction and neat in appear? ance than the structure disclosed in my copending application for United States patent on a like invention.
The invention has for its further purpose to provide an-apparatus which `will be' comparat-ively cheap to manufacture and one which will requlre very litt-le space .forits installation.
The principle of operation in the-present apparatus is the same as that set forth in vso my invention above referred to, and need not therefore be given any precise' detail inthe present case. With these and other objectsin'view the l'invention consists in the novel details of construct-ion and combinations of 4parts more fully hereinafter disclosed and particularly pointed out in the claims.
The invention is shown in its preferred embodiment in t-he accompanying drawing forming' a part of this specification..
' Referring'to the construction in detail 1 designates a suitable reservoir of any ap' propriate design and which" is closedat the bottom by a permanent closure 2 and at tle top by a removable closure 3. The removable closure is adaptedjo be in closing position at all times excepting when it is desired to gain access to the interior of the reservoir. A pipe 4' which enters into the "reservoir hasa screw threaded end 5 by means of which said pipe is adapted to be connectedwith a pump or othersou'rce of water supply. The upper end 6 of said pipe is slightly curved and opens into the interior f of the reservoir as will be understood. `A
second pipe 7 incloses the pipe 4 to the end of compactness in construction, and' said pipe 7 has a horizontal length section 8 which supports the drinking bowl 9 and the basin 10. as illustrated'.
Ilhe pipe 7 has its lowerf end 11 closely fitting against the pipe 4 and at its upper in Drinking-Fountains, of which the following end said pipe is .in communication wit-h the reservoi.r. Said -upper'end of vthe pipe 7 which is at' all times open. defines the level v -of water to be maintained in the reservoir,
and in this capacity acts as an overflow, said overflow passing 0E through the pipe section 8 and a spigot 12 secured to said pipe section 8' y The drinking bQwl 9 is secured to the pipe section 8 through the medium of a relatively short pipe section 13and the -basin 10 which surrounds s 'd bowl 9 is also secured 'to said pipefsection I3.
4A siphon 1 e111 which is 4'contained sub*- fstantially w o ly within the pipe sections 7 and 8 has a Siphon end 1 5 thereofentering into the reservoir 1 as shown in the drawing, and at' its other 'end said` pipe 14 communicates with and is adaptedjto, deliver .the
be readily understood.
The siphonv pipe 14 is provided with an aperture 16 for the purpose of drainage; and asimilar aperture 17 is providedsin the pipe section 13. The aperture 17 drains the `basin 10 through the pipe section 1 3 l and the spigot 12.
i It is obvious that those skilled in the art mayA vary the details'of construction and ar-V rangement of parts without departing from the spirit of my invent-ion, and therefore I do not wish to be limited to such features except'as'may be required by the claims.
What I claim as new and desireto protect by United States Letters Patent is 1. Ina drinking fountain vthe combination of a reservoir; a pipe entering vthe reservoir and adapted to communicate with the.
source of water supply; a drinking bowl; a
pipe surrounding the supply'pip'eand sup-A port-ing said bowl; and a Siphon pipe leading from the reservoir to the bowl, substantially as described.
2. In a drinking fountain the corinbin'ationn of a reservoir a pipe entering the reservoir 1 and adapted to communicate vwith the source of vwater supply; a drinking bowl; a pipe having a vertical length'inclosing the supply pipe and havinga horizontal length supporting thebowl, said last named pipe providin-g an overflow for the reservoir; and a of saidlsiphon p ipe contained substantieJ wholly. within saidsecond pipe, substantiallyas described.
'Siphon pipeleading from the reservoir to Y the bowl, the discharge lpg 3. In a drinking' fountain thecombina- 75 drinking water to the mouth bowl 9, as will tion of a closed reservoir; a, pipe entering the reservoir and adapted to communicate with the source of water supply; a drinking bowl; a` pipe having e 'vertical length inclosing theI supply pipe, and a horizontal length supporting the bowl; a spigot on said horizontal length providing ,an overflow with said second pipe; and a Siphon pipe leading from the reservoir to the bowlv and adapted to supply water to the latter, the
` discharge leg of said siphon pipe contained Gopies ofv this patent may be obtained for pi e, and having a horizontal length prov ing a support for said bowl; a s igot secured to the end of said horizonte length and providing with said second pipe an overflow for the reservoir; a, Siphon pipeleading from the reservoir to the bowl and adapted to supply, water to the latter, the discharge leg of said siphon pipe contained substantially wholly wit in the second pipe; and an overtiow pipe for the drinking bowl leading to said spigot, substantially as described.
In testimonyvwhereof I aiiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
