IMPROVEMENT IN BATH-TUB ATTACHMENTS FOR STEAM, HOT-AIR, 0R VAPOR BATHING.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 179,321, dated June 27, 1876; application filed December 11, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, WILLIAM C. KIDNEY and ALFRED H. KIDNEY, of the city, county,
" proved attachment, shown as attached to a bath-tub.
The object of this invention is to furnish an improved attachment for bath tubs which shall be so constructed as to afi'ord a convenient,.compact, and at all times'available means of taking a hot-air, steam, or vapor bath, either alone or in connection with a shower, plunge, or other kind of bath.
The invention consists in the combination, with an ordinary bath-tub, of a casing provided with movable doors or sections, and ventilating doors or openings, as hereinafter fully described.
A represents an ordinary bath-tub, and B is the case, about the construction of which there is nothing new. 0 is a casing, housing, or closet, inelosing the tub A, and resting upon the case B, and supported by the said case or other convenient support.
The casing shown in the drawing is represented as being made of wood, provided with doors 0 for convenient ingress and egress, small doors or openings 0 for ventilating purposes, and glass plates 0 set in the doors or body of the case, forthe admission of light.
The casing C may be made of wood, metal, glass, or woven fabric, or of a combination of two or more of said materials.
The casing C may be permanently or detachably connected to the case, as may be desired or convenient.
The casing or closet C may be supplied with hot air, steam, or vapor from an apparatus placed Within it, or without it, as may be desired or convenient.
By using this attachment, a steam, vapor, or hot-air bath may be taken by its owner at his own house and in his own bath-tub, thus avoiding the necessity of a journey to a bathing-establishment, the danger of taking cold in passing from one room to another during the operation, and the danger of bathing in company with, or immediately after, invalids. It also insures the desirable privacy and the certainty of cleanliness and pure water.

claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination, with an ordinary bathing apparatus, A B, of the superposed case 0, having doors a, ventilators c and glass plates 0 as shown and described, to allow a steam, vapor, or hot-air bath to be taken.
