It also allows the cover to be set down between the sides when the box is closed, so that there is no projecting edge of said cover, which is liable to be accidentally struck or brushed against, breaking the thin paper strip or hinge by which the rear of said cover is secured to said box.

IMPROVEMENT |N CIGAR-BOXES. I
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l 87, 115, dated February 6, 1877 application filed July 29, 1876.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, CHARLES FLETCHER, of Williamsburg, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Cigar-Boxes; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a representation of a perspective view of my cigar-box, and Fig. 2 is a detail view of the same.
This invention consists in improvements in cigar-boxes, hereinafter particularly' described.
In the annexed drawings, A A designate the four sides of a cigar-box. B designates the bottom, and O the cover of the same.
