IMPROVEMENT IN PLOW-POINTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 186,803, dated January 30, 1877; application filed September 23, 1876.
been worn out by use; and it consists of an adjustable plow-point combined with an upper and under lay of the wing of the plowshare, which fits tightly on the plowshare by means of a groove and a movable and adjustable key, which is placed in the'groove at the rear of the wing'of the plowshare, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my invention. Figs. 2 and 3 show detached views of the parts thereof.
A represents the plowshare, with point B and wing J. O is the edge of the wing of the share. G represents the adjustable point,
constructed as shown in Fig. 3, and having a groove, a, along its inner edge to fit closely on the point B and wing J, forming an upper and under lay of the share, and it is tightly held by means ofa key, D, which enters said groove a at the rear end of the wing J, thereby preventing the adjustable point from slipping or pulling off. The adjustable point G cannot be removed until the keyD is removed from its position.
By this invention plowshares that have been worn out by use are rendered useful, and the expense to the farmer is materially decreased.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In combination with a plowshare, A, having point B and wing J, the adjustable point G, constructed, as described, with groove on along its inner edge to fit over the point and wing, and form an upper and under lay for the share, and the key D, for fastening the adjustable point, substantially as herein set forth.
