IMPROVEMENT IN PIN-RACKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 182.842, dated October 3, 1876; application filed February 26, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHAMBERS MILLER, of Kilbuck township, Allegheny county, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Device for a Pin-Rack, which device is fully set forth in the following specifications, reference being had to the accompanying drawings. r
The object of my invention is to provide neat, substantial, and permanent pin-rack, in to which a full paper or case of pins may be inserted, readily withdrawn when empty, and replaced by a full one. Tacked to the wall, desk, or counter, or hung in any convenient place, this ornamental and complete device obviates the more troublesome method now in use of transferring pins from paper to cush- 1011.
Figures 6 and 3 represent my devices in perspective, showing the rack, with paper and case ofpins, in position. (3 0, Figs. 1 and 4, represent the rack for pins put up in round and oblong cases, which is made of any kindof sheet metal, or heavy paper, or pasteboard in any desired shape, having lips A made by upsetting the edge, or having slits cut in the body of the metal, which is then pressed up, as shown in the cross-section, Fig. 5, A, the
same to be cut with dies or formed in any manner known to the art. These lips A, Figs. 1' and 4, receive a projection or flange, O, on the bottom or under side of the case .or paper of pins B, Figs. 3 and 6, as shown in Figs. 2
and 5. This projecting bottom is made of sheet metal or paper, and securely fastened to the under side of the case or paper of pins; the flanges or projections c to be made so that they will slip freely into and be securely held by the lips in the rack, Figs. 1 and 4, A B.
I claim as my invention- 1. The pin-caseB,provided with bottom projections 0, substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
2. The rack 0, having lips A for receiving the bottom projections on the case B, substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
3. The pin-case B, having bottom projections 0, in combination with the rack 0, having lips A, substantially asand for the purpose set forth.
