GARTER.

My invention relates to improvement in garters made ot' leather, textile fabric elastic webbingl and nietal trimmings and it is my object to produce an improved garter in which the leather tace portions ol? the pad will be protected from perspiration from the body ot' the wearer, thereby preventing soiling and discoloration and hardening and disintegration of said leather' face portion.
In the drawing Fig. l is a plan View of my improved garter; Fig. 2 a back'view of the pad; and Fig. 3 a sectional View, on an cnlarged scale of the structure of Fig. 2 on the line 3-3 thereof.
The garter comprises the pad l, the leg encircling band 2 and the tab 3. A slide 4 on thc band 2 enables the wearer to adjust the length of the garter, while a loop 5 on the tree end is adapted to engage a button (i on the pad to secure the garter on the leg. A loop 7 and button 8 on the tab il serve to secure the garter to the sock.

By means of thisI construction the leather face 9 is protected from discoloration, hardening and ydisintegration from body moisture, and the back is a textile fabric which does not cause discomfort to the wearer.
Lines of Stitching 12 serve to secure the leather tace, the fabric backing, the band and the tab together.
In a garter, the combination with a leg band and a stocking supporting clasp, of a pad comprising a leather face and a textile fabric back with moisture-proof material interposed. between and entirely separating the material of the face from the material oi the back.
