Be it known that Eri-Inn D. BURTCHBY, citizen of the United States, residing at Tulsa, in the county` of rl `ulsa andrState of Oklahoma, has invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Corset Anchors and Hose Supporters, of which the following' is a specification.

lhis invention relates to new andV useful improvements in a combined corset. anchor and hose supporter.

l-ieretofore attempts have been made to provide a device for retaining the corset against upward movement and also for supporting the hose. rFliese attempts have been unsatisfactory because the limb-encircling band to which the corset was connected, interfered with the blood circulation in the limb or because the strap connecting the corset with the band was located in front of the linee and consequently interfered with the free movement of the limb either when the wearer was walking or sitting.

' rThe principal object of my invention is to provide a combined corset anchor and hose supporter which will not interfere with the blood circulation in the limb, will not interfere with the free movement of the limb when the wearer is either walking or sitting, and which will support the hose from the corset with a minimum amount of strain exerted on the hose.

Another object of the invention is to provide the limb-encircling band with means located at the front for adjusting the length of said band whereby ready access to the same may be had and the adjustment made iith a minimum amount of labor and time.

A further object of the invention is to provide a device of the character described which is simple in construction and is, therefore, cheap to manufacture.

Ti'ith the above and other objects in view which will more readily appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists iu the novel coustruction, conibination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, illustrated and claimed. i

Referring to the drawing, A designates the body of a person, B one of the limbs, C a brassire, D a corset, and E a hose.

In order to provide means for anchoring the corset and brassire against upward movement, l have provided a limb-encircling band F which is positioned below the knee and is connected to the corset and brassire in such a manner that there will be no interference with the blood circulation in the limb nor any interference with the movement of the limb when the wearer is either walking or sitting. rThis band F is an open ended band and consists in a length 5 of elastic material having at one end a metallic loop 6 containing an eye 7. The band F intermediate its ends is provided with means 8 for adjusting the length thereof. T he other end of the band F has attached thereto a tab 9 which is preferably formed of inelastic material and is preferably hexagonal in shape. The tab includes an upper edge 10 which is disposed at an acute angle to the longitudinal axis of the length 5 and extending upwardly at an obtuse angle to said longitudinal axis of the length 5 is a pair of wire loops 1l and 12 respectively, said loops being secured to the tap by means of cloth loops 13 and 14 respectively, said cloth loops in turn being secured to the tab 9 by suitable stitching. The longitudinal axis of the length 5 is indicated by the line -az and the inclined plane containing the wire loops ll and 12 is indicated by the line y--g/- Secured to the outer face of the tab 9 by stitching or the like is a button 15 for engagement with the eye 7.

A corset anchor strap 1G is secured at its' upper end to oue side of the corset, and is provided at its lower end with a button 17. The limb-encircling band F` is positioned below the knee 18 of the wearer and the tab 9 is disposed at the side of the knee and directly under the point of attachment of the upper end of the anchor strap 16. This positions the adjusting means 8 in advance of the tab 9 whereby ready access may be had to said adjusting means and the length ol. the band adjusted with a minimum amount o'l' labor. It will thus be seen that when the band F is connected to the corset through the medium of the strap 16, there is a tendency to exert an upward pu'll on the band and a downward pull on the corset. Thus the end portions of lthe band F on opposite sides ot' the vertically disposed anchor strap 16 are arranged at obtuse angles relative to the vertical plane of the strap, and consequently there is no interference with the Eblood Circulation .in the limb. Furthermore, by positioning the strap lft at the side oi Ithe corset there is no interference oft the movements o't the limb when the wearer is either walking `or sitting. ln order to retain the brassire against upward movement I have provided the latter with a 'depend-ing anchoring strap 19 having' a button 20 at its lower end for engagement with the loop ll. The limbencircling band F is preferably worn under the hose gE, and in order vto support the latter, l. have provided the corset with a pair o! depending straps 2l and 22 respectively, said straps bei-ng shorter than and disposed on opposite sides of the corset anchoring strap 16. rThe lower end of these straps 2l vand 22 are ,provided with the usual hose engaging `loop and button fasteners Q3 and 2f-l.

From the foregoing, it will be observed that the uinvard pull ot the corset is prevented b v the li'mh-encircling band F and the connect-ing anchor' strap l, and conse- Vtfuently the strain in sup-porting the hose trom the corset is reduced to a minimum and the lite ol the hose is vcorrespondingly iixci'cased as a result. -lt will also be. observed that l have provided a corset anchor olf extremely simple construction, lhe same cons `ti-rg oli' but two parts, (l) a limbencircling band, and an anchor strap. Vl`he anchor strap lextends vertically and is disposed at the n'iedial line at the side et the wearer. l'y providing the pivotal connection il? between the stra-'p and the band, and a pi'vctail connection l5 between the ends oft 'the band, l :have provided an article which will retain the corset against upward movement in dili'erent `positions assumed by the wearer and without affecting any discoml'ort to the. wearer. rlhe band is so construct d that in its relation to the strap, the strap and each adjacent portion or the band are disposed at an obtuse angle. rrThis is very importan-t in that it provides a. band Vsingle which avoids stoppage o't blood circulation in the limb o'l the wearer.

lt is also to be noted that the strap is connected to the lower portion o't the corset whereas the anchoring strap ior the brassire is connected to the latter and necessarily extends above the point oi connection between the corset anchor strap and the corset. Thus when the wearer bends 'torwardly the brassire anchor strap will be flexed, but the corset anchor strap will be. vunallectecl. lt is also noted that the corset ancl-ior strap and the brassire anchor strap are connected at their lower ends to one Iend ot vthe single limb-encircling band.

l claim:

l. rl`he combination with a corset, olf a open-ended limb-encircling band adapted to be positioned on the wearer below the l ice, said band including a detachable pivotal connection between its ends, and a vertically disposed anchor strap tor the corset arranged at the medial line or the side ot the wearer and secured at its upper end to the corset and directly connected at its lower end to the band by a pivotal connection located at a point above said band connection.
