M. MORRIS unnsnemunm Filed Oct. 19. 1926 2 Sheets-Sheet 2 gmwntoz Ma s Mr/"z'a the downwardly extending end portions of the lower edge of the insert, the outer sides of the legs would be drawn upwardly to too great a degree, thereby producing an inclination of the bottoms of the legs greater than that desired. The upwardly extending concave portions of the lower edge of the insert draw the material of the legs upwardly, but this is compensated for by the downwardly extending convex portions at the ends of the insert, which permit the outer sides of the legs to sag or fall to the proper distance to produce the desired leg bottom inclinations.
The side edges of the section 10 are sewed to the upper portions of the sides of a front piece 16, while only one side edge oi the lower section 11 is sewed to the side edge of the front piece. The other side edge of the lower section 11, and the corresponding side edge'of the front piece 16 are provided with suitable separable fastening means 17, where by to produce a closure at the side of the garment, in one leg thereof, and a closed seat portion. The lower edge of the bottom section 11, of the back of the garment is cut on an upwardly curving line 155, and to this edge is secured the rear portion of a substantially diamond-shaped crotch-piece 19, shown particularly in Figure 7 The front piece 16 is slitted longitudinally and cen- I trally from its bottom edge, as shown at 20,
the side walls of such slit diverging upwardly, and being connected by a curved bight portion 21. To the said side walls of the slit is sewed the other edge of the crotchpieces 19.
In the form of the insert illustrated in Figure 3, the lower edge is cut in the same manner as that shownin connection with the insert 13, of Figure 1, but the modification 22 has its upper edge formed in a similar manner to that of the lower edge, as shown at 28. This provided for a fullness in the back, above the waistline, as well as therebelow.
The form of insert 24c, shown in Figure 5, has its lower edge formed with two downwardlycurved portions 25, with the intermediate portion upwardly curved, at 26, and having the transverse ends 27. The downwardly curved portions 2-5, of the lower edge of this insert, when sewed to the upper edge of the lower section 11, oil the back of the garment, produces fullnessat the two portions which cover the buttocks, as will be understood.
\Vhat is claimed is:
A garment including a back divided trans versely along a straight line to produce an uppersect-ion and a lower section, the upper.
section having a lower straightedge, the lower section having an upper straight edge, the lower section including leg portions, and
an insert having its lower edge formed along double compound curved lines to produce terminal and intermediate downwardly extending convex portions and upwardly extending concave portions between the terminal and intermediate convex portions, said insert having its upper edge sewed to the lower straight edge of the upper section, the upper straight edge of the lower section being sewed to the compound curved lower edge of the insert, whereby such intermediate convex portion will permit the material of said lower section to sag in its intermediate portion, to produce a full seat portion to the back of the garment and whereby the terminal convex portions of said insert will permit the outer sides of the legs to hang to the normal lengths downwardly from the hips.
In testimony whereof, I affix my signature.
MOSES MORRIS.
