APPLICATION FILED AUG. I2, 920.

INVENTOR WWW UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JACOB SOHERFER, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR TO W.. H. ROGERS COMPANY, OF
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented NOV. 22,1921.
Application filed August 12, 1920. Serial No. 403,069.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I. JACOB Sonnnrna, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in the Processes of Manufacturing Ladies Ready-to-vVear Clothing, and particularly in the processes of manufacturing ladies petticoats, bloomers, and skirts, of which the following is a specification.
This invention prevents the wrinkling of the band at the top of ladies petticoats, bloomers and skirts. The new and useful improvements consist of a reinforced formfitting waist band. The reinforced front prevents the garment from sagging and pulling out of shape. at the top and keeps the front of the garmentsmooth, thereby preventing all wrinkling as long as the garment may be worn. The front of the garment is reinforced at the top by two thicknesses of fitted material about nine inches in length, two inches deep at the side and five inches deep in the center.
An embodiment of my invention in a skirt is illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 is a front view of the skirt and Fig. 2 is a detail view of the reinforcement.
Referring by reference characters to this drawing, a designates a etticoat or skirt of the usual or any desired material having a closed front as shown and provided at the top with the customary waistband indicated at a. The reinforcement is indicated at b and is shown detached in Fig. 2 and attached to the skirt in Fig. 1.
From this last named figure, it will be observed that the reinforcement extends nearly the full width of the front of the skirt, being stitched to the waistband at the top and to the skirt at its side and lower ed es.
The side edges 6' Z) of the reinforcement are substantially vertical and the lower ed es Zfl converge toward each other prefera ly 011 curved lines as shown, and meet at the center of the skirt.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim is:
l. A ladies ready-made nether garment having a substantially triangular reinforcement overlying the front in proximity to the waist line thereof for substantially the entire width thereof and secured thereto.
2. A ladies ready-made nether garment having a closed front and a reinforcement overlying the upper portion of said front and secured thereto, said reinforcement having substantially vertical side edges and converging bottom edges meeting at the center of the skirt.
JACOB SCHERFER.
