2 Claims. (01. 2-70) The present invention relates to hose supports ing'garments.

An important object of the invention is the provision of a hose supporting garment which will preserve and substantially prolong the life of women's hose.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a hose supporting garment designedso that the supporting tension will be distributed circumferentially about the hose so as to obviate widely separated strain.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a hose supporting garment which will obviate the formation of objectionable.protuberances.

Still another object of the invention is the provision of a hose supporting garment of the aforesaid character which will maintain the hose in smooth proper fitting position.

Another object of the invention is the provision of hose supporting means of the above character which will enable retention of the hose seams'in proper, neatly appearing arrangement.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a hose supporting garment which will efiectively replace and obviate the necessity of wearing'a separate bloomer garment.

A still further object of the invention is the provision of hose supporting means of the above character which may be quickly and conveniently put on or removed and which will be comfortable on the person.

'Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent 'as the description progresses.

Referring to Figures 1 to 8 inclusive, wherein is illustrated a preferred embodiment of the invention, the numeral 20 designates a hose supporting garment preferably constituting a relatively short leg garment adapted to fitted about the thighs and hipsof a wearer. I consider it advantageous that the leg garment 20 be formed of suitable elastic material. This-garment is also preferably constructed to provide a doubled overlapping crotch portion 2l which may be easily opened when necessary, as shown at Figure 6.

The leg garment 20 may be supported on the body by detachably connecting the same with an upper body garment 22 which may be a foundation garment, such as a corset or close fitting elastic waist garment.

At the lower edge of the upper body garment 22 and the upper edge of the lower leg garment 20 are preferably provided slider fastening means of any preferred type, such as a fastener embodying interlocking elements 24 interlocked or separated by movement of a slider 25. This connection is such that by moving the slider circumferentially, the upper and lower garments may be connected. in intimate edge to edge relation or entirely detached.

To the lower leg portions of the hose supporting garment 20 are connected a pair of hose 26, in the present instance having the top or upper marginal edge portion disposed in overlapping position with respect to the leg portions of the garment and .secured thereto by a circumferential row of stitching 21. This stitching securely attaches the hose to the leg garment so as to form an integral structure therewith.

Referring to Figures 9 to 14 inclusive wherein is illustrated a modified form of the garment, the leg garment indicated at 29 is also attached by a sliding fastener 30 to an upper body garment 3|. The bottom leg portions of the garment 29 differ, however, in that they are pro ided at circumferentially spaced intervals with slits or holes 32. For this garment, the hose indicated at 34 would have the edge margin of the tops also formed with slits 35 which would be adapted to register approximately with the slits 32 in the leg garment.

To attach the hose to the supporting garment, the tops of the hose are arranged in overlapping position over the margins of the legs and a flexible band 36, which may also be elastic, is threaded or laced through the registering slits in the hose and garment. When the band has been completely laced the ends are secured by hooks and eyes or other suitable fastening means.

In still another modified form of the invention shown at Figures 15 and 16 the garment supporter, indicated at 38, is identical with that employed in the modified form shown at Figure 9 but the hose are modified in that a lining band 39 is connected to the top margin of the hose, indicated at 40, by stitching or the like and projects beyond the top edge of the hose. The lining band 39 is preferably formed of durable flexible material and is provided, at spaced intervals, with slits 4| which are adapted to register with the slits in the legs of the supporting garment to receive the flexible fastening band.

As will be readily apparent the leg garment and the hose may be quickly and easily put on or removed as a single unit although, when necessary, the hose may be detached and changed.

Due to the connection of the hose with the leg garment at closely disposed circumferentially spaced points, a very desirable supporting connection is provided, inasmuch as the hose are held in a smooth tight fitting arrangement and the uniform distribution of tension obviates injury to the stocking, which frequently results from the strain caused by widely separated two or three point connections afforded by the commonly used garter.

It is to be understood that the forms of my invention herein shown and described are to be taken as preferred examples of the same, and that various changes as to the shape, size and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claims.

Having thus described my invention, I claim:-

1. In an undergarment having trunk and seat portions, the combination therewith of a narrow crotch portion having lower thigh openings, means for uninterruptedly connecting said last portion to the lower edge of the seat portion in a removable manner, full-length hose, and cooperating means on the marginal edge of the thigh openings and upper part of the hose for removably securing said hose to said crotch at closely spaced points around its periphery.

2. In a ladys undergarment as claimed in claim 1, an elastic band secured to the hose at the connecting point with the crotch, for the purpose of reinforcing said hose which is usually 01' thin easily tearable material.
