'l'ATEfi earner OFFICE.
HENRY SLAIGER, OF NORTH ATTLEBORO, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO 1). F.
COMPANY, OF ATTLEIBORQ, MASSACHUSETTS.
VANITY CASE.
Application filed April 4, 1925.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY SLAronn, a citizen of the United States, residing at North Attleboro, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in Vanity Cases, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in vanity cases, and the primary object thereof is to provide an improved and novel form of vanity case for carrying rouge and loose powder.
A further object of the invention is to provide a vanity case having a rotary cover, whereby when the rouge is concealed the powder will be exposed, and vice versa.
A still further object of the invention resides in the rouge holder and the manner of mounting the same and also the rotary cover. I
In the drawings Figure 1 is a plan View of the case with the parts in full open position, and
Figure 2 is a central longitudinal sectional view of Figure 1 taken with the parts in closed position.
In proceeding in accordance with the present invention, a body 1 is provided having a cover or top2, hinged thereto at 3 and equipped with a mirror 4. A keeper '5 extends radially from thebody 1 and is formed with a pair of eyes 6 and 7 of which 7 provides means for engaging a chain or equivalent for suspending or otherwise carrying the case.
An angular shank 8 is connected to the cover and carries a ball 9 which latter snaps into the eye 6 and thus forms a latch for the cover, due to the ball 9 extending beyond the keeper it will be seen that the same can be readily engaged with the fingers and moved out of eye 6, thus affording a convenient and easymanner of disengaging the latch.
A ring 10 is seated on the bottom of the body and engages the rim thereof and affords a seat for the bottom of a powder cup 11. The cup bottom is depressed at 12 and receives a rouge tray 13 therein. A top member 1 1 seats on the upper edge of the rim of cup 11 and is formed with an opening in register with the tray and with a segmental opening 15. A circular cover 16 seats on the top member 1 1 and is pivoted Serial No. 20,657.
by means of a stud 17 which latter extends through the cover 16, through the top member 14 and through the cup bottom 11. The pivot cover 16 is provided with a segmental cut-out 18 and with a pair of struck out linger grips 19 by means of which the cover can be conveniently rotated.
Powder is placed in the cup 11 and may occupy the entire interior thereof with the exception of the part occupied by the tray 13. Upon rotation of the pivot cover, it will be seen that either the rouge tray or powder is concealed, so that in applying the powder same cannot enter the rouge tray, and vice versa.
It will be seen that all of the parts, excepting the ring 10 are carried by the cup 11, consequently the latter can be bodily re moved for any desired purpose.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. Ina vanity case, a body, a coverthereior, a ring therein, a powder cup seated on the rim and having a depressed part, a rouge tray engaged in the depressed part, a top member seated on the top edge of the rim of the cup and having an opening in register with the tray and a segmental opening, and a centrally pivoted rotatable cover pivoted to the cup bottom and to the top member and having a segmental opening for register with either the tray or the powder cup.
2. In a vanity case, a body, a ring therein,
a powder cup seated on the ring, a rouge tray in the cup, means to secure the tray in position, a top member seated on the top edge of the rim of the cup and having an opening in register with the tray and a second opening overlying the cup, and a centrally pivoted rotatable cover having an opening for register with either the tray or the powder cup.
8. In a vanity case, a body, a ring therein, a powder cup seated on the ring, a rouge tray in the cup, means to secure the tray in position, a top member seated on the top edge of the rim of the cup and having an opening in register with the tray and a second opening overlying the cup, a rotatable cover seating on the top member and having an opening for register with either the tray or the powder cup, and a pivoting stud for the cover extending therethrough and through the top mernher and through the bottom of the powder cup.
4. In a vanity case, a body, a powder cup therein, a rouge tray in the cup, a top memher on the cup having an opening in register with the tray and a segmental opening diametrically opposite to the first named opening, a rotatable cover on the top member having a segmental openingvto one side of its diameter and located wholly within the 10 cover periphery for registry with either of said openings, and a pair of upwardly extending finger grips on the cover disposed on diametrically opposite sides thereof.
In testimony whereof I have signed my 1 name to this specification.
HENRY SLAIGER.
