7 UNITED STATES 1,522,220 PATENT OFFICE.
m1. w. woon, or LOS enemas, cnmronnmvREINIIOVAIBLIE FILLER POCKET PACKAGE.
Application filed August 19, 1922, Serial No. 582,985. Renewed November 6, 1924.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EARL W. Woon, a citizen of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State ofCalifornia, have invented new and' useful Improvements in Removable Filler Pocket Packages, of which the following-is a specification.
This invention relates to toilet articles and more particularly to an article consisting of a package of paper leaves in the form of a unitary pad having a substantial fastening tongue and a receiver having a structure to which said tongue is adapted to be applied for temporarily associating the pad and the receiver.
Another object is to provide a sanitary package that may be conveniently carried in the pocket and which is of simple, inexpensive and practicable construction.
Further objects and advantages will be made manifest in the following specification of an embodiment of the invention illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a perspective of the closed package.
Figure 2 is a perspective of the open package including the pad.
Figure 3 is a perspective of the open container devoid o a pad.
Figure 4 is a perspective of the detached Figure 5 is a perspective of the back of the package and illustrating the spare pocket.
The present invention consists of a receiver or cover comprising a back 2 of suitable dimensions laterally folded along the medial portion 3 to form an outer flap 1, the swinging end of which is provided with a flange 5 having a medial tongue 6. This tongue is adapted to be inserted in an aperture 7 in the upper portion of the back 2 when the flange 5 is foldedover the top of the back, as in Figure 1. At the inner face of the back there is provided an inside pocket 8. This is formed by turning up the lower end of an inturned leaf of the back 2. A flap 8 is secured to the leaf and is adapted toclose the pocket 8. The bottom of the pocket is perforated at 8* to allow an inserted powder to sift through. The ends of the pocket 8 are formed by inwardly turned ears 8". On the outside of the back there is an'outer pocket 9, the
face of which is perforated at 10to receive a tongue 11 provided on a transverse flange 12 covering the upper open edge of the pocket 10.
The back 2 is provided with an elongated slot 14 and into this there is adapted to be slipped the tongue 15 of the stub backbone 16 in' which is fastened the stub 17 of a pad 18 of sheets of paper. The tongue 15 is arranged at the back of the pad and is adapted to be pushed into the transverse slot 14 thus forming a substantial temporary attachment of the pad 18 with the receiver. Perferably the leaves of the pad are perforated along the line 19 at the edge of the stub 17.
, From the above it will be seen that the device is simple, inexpensive and compact in form.
Further embodiments, modifications and variations may be resorted to Within the spirit of the invention as here claimed.
' What is claimed is:
1. A package consisting of a receiver structure and a pad of leaves adapted to be detachably connected to the'receiver, said receiver consisting of a back having an inwardly folded leaf, the lower end of which is turned upwardly to form a pocket, the bottom of which is perforated so that a powder may sift therefrom onto the leaves.
2.. A package consisting of a receiver structure folded to form front and back portions, the back portion being folded inwardly and an end portion of the inwardly folded portion folded back on a part of the inwardly folded portion and secured thereto at its sides to form a pocket and provided with a slot, said pocket having erforations therein so that a powder may sift therefrom, a cover for said pocket, said cover being secured to the inwardly folded portion and having a tongue engaging said slot, the inwardly folded portion having a slot, a paper pad-holder having a tongue engaging the second mentioned slot; the front portion of the receiver being folded crosswise near its end and turned over onto the upper portion of the back-and having a tongue engaging a slot in the back and a pocket, including acover, formed on the back of the receiver structure.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
EARL W. WOOD.
