VANITY CASE.
Application filed March 19, 1923. Serial N10. 628,183.
To all whom it may concern.' l
Be it known that I, CECILE E. Ciioswrrrrn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kansas City, in the county of Jackson and` State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Vanity Cases, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to vanity cases for holdin toilet accessories, such as face powders, 11p sticks, eyebrow pencils, nail files,
perfumes, etc., and one object is to provide a novel receptacle of this character which is of neat and attractive appearance, convenient to'use, and of a durable and compact construction.
Other objects will hereinafter appear, and in order that the invention may be fully understood, reference will now be had to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the device.
Fig. 2 is a vertical cross sectional view of the case.
Fig. 3 is a detail plan view of one of the lids of the case.
Fig. 4 is a plan view of the case with one of the lids in open position.
Fig. 5 is a detail plan view of a ily leaf constituting part of the invention.
Fig. 6 is an edge view of an inner lid.
In carrying out the invention, I employ a case indicated generally by the reference character 2. Said caseembodies a,tubular body 4 divided into large and small compartments 6 and 8, respectively, by a partition 10 providedat one side with a shallow vreceptacle 12. One margin ofthe tubular body 4 is reinforced by an inturned lian-ge 14` to which an inner lid 16 is connected by a hinge 18. The inner lid 16`is provided at one side with a resilient retainer 2() and at its opposite side with a plurality of coin holders 22, a clasp 23 and upturned lugs 24. Ihe clasp 23 is connected at one end to the inner lid 16 by a hinge 28, while its opposite end is adapted to engage a snap fastener 30.
- 38held in place by a ri visis The tubular body 4 is provided adjacent to one end with a lidv32 connected to said body 4 by a hinge 34 and adapted to be held v in closed position by a snap fastener 36. The inside ofthe lid 32 is provided with a mirror The opposite end of he tubular body 4 is 'closed by a lid 42 `ceiirrecisai ,to 'saidv b edy 4.
by a hinge 44. The lid 42 is divided into 'the hand.
large and small compartments 46 and 48, respectively, by a partition 50.
The case 2 is suspended from chains`r or their equivalents`52 Yde ending from rings 54 which form a convenient handle whereby the device may be carried from a finger of In practice the coin holders 22 form convenient means for holding change, while the clasp 23 and the lugs 24 may be utilized for -vholding a cake of rouge and a rougepuff for applying the rouge to the face, the mirror n 38 enabling the user to observe the application of the rouge. Y e
The retainer 20 has segmental spring members 40 for holding awhite lip pomade, av
red lip stick, and an eyebrow .pencil The retainer 20, also, has loops 42 which may be utilized for holding a nail le and a pair l of tweezers.
The receptacle 12 may be employed to advantage for holding a face powder and com-f pact. n
The compartment 46 in the lid 42 may be utilized for holding handkerchiefs, bills,
calling cards, cigarettes, etc., while the compartment 48 formsa convenient receptacle for pins, matches, or postage stamps.
From the foregoing description it will Y be understood that I have provided a vanity case embodying the advantages above pointed out, and while I have shown and described the kpreferred construction, combination and arrangement' of parts, I reserve the'right to make such changes as properlyv fall within the spirit and scope of the claims.
Having thus described my invention, what l I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
' 1. In a device of the charactervdescribed, a tubular body having an inturned margin, anl inner lid hinged to and adapted to rest against said inturned margin, a coin receptacle carriedby said inner lid, an outer lid hinged to the tubular body and adapted to close over said inner lid, and a mirror at the inner side of said outer lid.
2. In a device of the character described, a tubular body open at its ends, a partition dividing said tu ular body into tvvo4 coin- ,partments, lids hin ed to the tubular body and adapted to c ose the compartments therein, and a partition dividing one of said lids into two compartments.
iosivr als,L
3. A device of` the character described In testimony whereof I ax my signature,
consisting of atubularbod; ofen at its ends, in the presence of two witnesses. outer lids hinged to said o y to close the ends thereof, a partition dividing one of CECILE E' CROSWHITE' 6 said lids into compartments, and an inner Witnesses:
lid hinged to the tubular body, substantially L. J. FISCHER,
as shown and described.
