K. L. ALLISON COMBINATION VANITY CASE Filed Aug. 16. 1926 IN VEN TOR.

PA-TENT OFFICE.
I KATHRYN L. ALLISON, OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
COMBINATION may ease.
Application filed August 16, 1926. Serial No. 129,360.
This invention relates to improvements in toilet cases and more particularly to a combination vanity compact and coin case.
One of the objects of the present invention is to provides, simple, efiicient and inexpensive device of this character wherein space is suitably appropriated in a casing for a lipstick, eyelash pencil, rouge, powder, a powder compact and whereby means is provided for containing coins of various denominations.
Another object of my invention is to pro vide a casing designed to be attached to the wristof the users arm and instantly afl'ording the user access to various toilet or face preparations such as face powder, a compact, rouge, a lipstick, and the like.
A still further object of my invention is to provide a convenient compact case which is provided with a plurality of compartments, the central compartment of which is i the narrowest so that a container holding a lipstick and eyebrow pencil may snugly fit the central narrow compartment, and where? by face powder may fill another compartment with a compact overlying the same, and rouge may occupy another compartment.
A further object of my invention is to provide improved means for containing coins of various denominations and also designed to have a strap to secure the device around the wrist of the user. To this end I have provided a compact wherein various pockets are provided to hold various toilet accessories and outside of which are carried two coin cases arranged on opposite sides of the casing thus allowing coins to be carried about with the vanity casing, and enabling the user to always have about her toilet preparations together with the means of applying the same.
In carrying out the details of my invention 1 contemplate providin parts, one frictionally tted onto the other and so disposed that there may be lodged therein a combination lipstick and pencil formed in one continuous length held together by means of a, central collar. This cylinder is designed to be deposited in a central relatively narrow compartment formed in the vanity toilet box.
With the above and other objects in view my invention consists in the combination, arrangement and details of construction disa cylinder in two closed in the drawing and specification, and then more particularly pointed out in the appended claims'.'
In the drawings, wherein similar reference characters designate similar parts thruout the respective views,
F igure'l is a ton plan view of my invention, partly in section, with the casing cover open,
Figure 2'is a longitudinal section thru my invention taken on the bar forming the transverse base line thereof, showing the lid in closed position,
Figure 3 is aside elevation of my invention,
Figure 4 is a transverse view of my invention showing all the lids or covers in open position, and
Figure 5 is a top plan view of my invention'showing the wrist engaging strap form ing part thereof.
In the drawings, which are merely illustrative of my invention 10 designates the lid or cover associated with a vanity casing 11; casing and cover can be of any desired shape but I prefer to form the casing and cover as shown in' Fi rel where it willbe seen that casing 111s formed-V-sh-aped at opposite ends as at 12, 13, the lid being-con" respondinglyshaped as at 12, 13. The lid and easing will preferably be of uniform depth, and-will be movably connected by the conventional hinges 21. '.A suitable mirror.
14 is disposed against the back wall of the bar is disposed flush with the bot tom of the toilet casing 11 and its terminals lid 10.
assume the form of two arms 15 and 16 respectively disposed transversely of the lon-- gitudinal axis of this toilet casing. The undersides of these arms are designated B and C. Formed integrall upon the ends of arms 15 and 16 respective v are coin casings 17 and 18- having hinged thereupon lids 17' and- 18, these coin cases or boxes being of var in diameters to hold coins of venous denominations. An desirable Iorm 'of clip 23 is designed to; frictionally lock the lid 17 or 18 upon their respective coin cases. It
will be seen from Figure 4 that lid 17 opens out away from the toilet casing and towards the adjacent end of arm 16, while lid 18 similarly o ens'out upon its coin case in the direction 0 the adjacent end otarm 15. The lid 10 is also designed to have a spring clip associated therewith to lock it firmly and securely upon the toilet case 11.
I design to form a plurality of compartments or pockets within the casing 11, preferably three being provided, such that the central compartment is relatively narrow,
' especially desirable to apply a uniform film each contact en'dwise with the other. A metal of powder without allowing the compact to touch adjacent parts of the face.
Designed ,to lodge itself within the central relatively. narrow compartment is a receptacle, container or cylinder conslsting of two tubular members. 33 and 34, one frictionally engaging the other in telescopic relation and a band engages the central portion of a continuous length of a stick, one half of which is a lipstick 30 while the other is an eye-lash pencil 31,, the embracing band being desig;
nated 32. This receptacle thus snugly secures and in a sanitary manner protects the eyelash pencil and the lipstick. In order to assure that the lid 10 will move to an inclined position as it is opened and thus afford clearance for the coin case .lid 17 to swing in its arc to open or closed position relatively to its coin case 17 I provide a lug 24 upon the arm C upon which the lid 10 rests when in open position, as is shown in Figure 4. At the end of arm 16 is formed a ring or loop 38 to which is attached one end of a 'flexible strap 37, while the other end of this strap, after it is designed to embrace the wrist of a user is designed to have its terminal hook 36 engaged with the loop or ring 35 secured to the end of arm 15.
In operation the lady desiring to use my invention will remove any of the toilet articles contained in the casing 11, and may remove the powder compact 28 with powder thereupon and use the mirror 14 to advantage irliflapplying, as this mirror is always availa e.
The strap 37 will be ap lied around the wrist of the user to secure the device in position upon the usersarm, after which the end of the strap will be hooked onto the loop 35 in this manner securing the device in position. By opening the lid 10 the casing is rendered-accessible instantly. Definite places are thus assigned to the different toilet preparations and appliances. I do not mean to limit myself 'to the exact details of construction shown but mean to claim all variations coming within the purview of theappended claims.
formed with a V-shaped shaped terminal arranged opposite to said rectangular terminal.
- 4. As a new art' le of manufacture an eyelash pencil, a lipstick having-their ends removably coupled by a .commonring, and a pair of caps of uniform diameter held with a pressed fit against said ring with their edges contacting. i
--5. A device as described consisting of a pair of similarly shaped and sized trays hinged together'to provide a case, a mirror mounted in one of said trays, a flange proje cting beyond the bottom of the tray other than the mirror-carrying tray, and a. lug formed upon said flangeand serving to support said mirror-carrying tray when the latter is disposed in vertical position, to dispose said mirror vertically. y p
' In witness whereof she has hereunto set her hand this twenty-eighth day of July, 1926.
