Description

- C. M KASH ACTORS MAKE-UP KIT Aug. 9,1927. v 3 ,3 6
Filed Oct. 21., 1925 Patented Aug. 9, 1927.
UNITED. STATES CHARLES MoKASH, or HOQUIAM, WASHINGTON.
AGTORS MAKE-UP KIT.
Application filed October 21, 1925. Serial I10. 63,953.
This invention relates to improvements in actors make-up kits and has particular reference to a portable kit.
The principal object of this invention is to produce a compact make-up kit which may be readily transported from place to place without inconveniencing the user.
Another object of this invention is to produce a device of this character which will be compact and therefore readily placed in the pocket.
A still further object of this invention is to produce a device of this character which is simple in construction and therefore cheap to manufacture.
An additional object of this invention is to produce a device of this character which when set up for use will present a neat appearance and at the same time will hold the articles to be used in a convenient manner.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent during the course of the following description.
In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same,
Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved make-up box,
Figure 2 is a top plan view of Figure 1, partly broken away,
Figure 8 is a view similar to Figure 1 with the top removed showing the contents of the tray, and
Figure 4 is a side elevation showing the box in open position ready for use.
Heretofore, it has been customary for actors to carry a makeup box of considerable size which contained their cold cream, cosmetics, soap, collodion and other paraphernalia, the result being that the package was unsightly, bulky and inconvenient to carry. As it requires but a small amount of material to produce several makeup s I have produced a box wherein limited quantities of material are stored and conveniently arranged for use, these quantities being sufficient for a large number of makeups and at the same time be ing compact and easily transportable. This makeup kit comprises a box being preferably made of metal having a bottom portion or tray 5 to which is hinged as at 6 a cover 7 The tray and cover are locked together during transportation by any suitable means as shown at 8. WVithin the cover 7 is pivoted as at 9 a mirror 11 to one side of which is secured a brace 12 as by a thumb nut 13. The opposite end of this brace is pivoted as at 14: to the tray 5. I
A flexible handle is shown at 16, which serves to carry the device as a whole and is secured to the tray 5 in the customary manner. W ithin the tray is positioned a partition 17 which provides a compartment 18 within which the makeup pencils may be placed, the tips of which pass beneath a shield 19, by entering the openings 21.
A soap box is shown at 22 while at 23 and 24, I have shown receptacles for the customary cold cream and cleansing cream, and at 26 I have shown a compartment within which a bottle of collodion commonly employed in the fastening on of false hair may be stored.
It will thus be seen that within this compact device I have constructed a kit which will serve all of the purposes of an actor and accomplish all of the objects above enumerated.
It is to be understod that the form of my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same, and that various changes in the shape, size and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claim.
Having thus described my invention, I claim In a device of'the character described, a
box-like structure comprising a tray, a cover hingedly connected thereto, a mirror hinged to said cover, a brace pivotally secured at one end to said mirror and having its opposite end pivotally mounted within said tray so that said mirror lies within said tray when the hinged cover is moved into contact with said tray, and a plurality of cosmetic holding compartments so positioned in said tray as to permit said mirror to lie within said tray without contacting the cosmetic holding compartments.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
CHARLES McKASH.
