van'rrv casn Application filedmarch 15, 1922. Serial No. 544,236. I
To all whom it may concern: 7
Be it known that we, Isaac nosmmw and ISRAEL Hnnsnowrrz, subjects of the King of Rumania, residing at New -.York, county of New York, and State of New York, have invented certain new anduseful Improvements in Vanity Cases, of which the following is a specification.
The objects of our invention are to provide a simple and compact vanity case adapted to hold a plurality of cosmetics including perfume.
Uur vanity case is so constructed that it can be used to spray perfume upon the user, and it has compartments for holding a lip stick, eye-brow pencil and powder pufi. It resembles in eneral appearance a watch case. The perfume is carried in the interior where the works of a watch would usually be, and between the hinged lid and the face is provided a space for holding a powder pu Tubes closed on their inside ends, pro ject into the interior of the case and are adapted to hold snugly a lip stick, eye-brow pencil or other form of solid cosmetic.
We attain these objects by the construction illustrated in the accompanying draw- %igure 1 is a longitudinal section of the vanity case. Figure 2 is a cross-section. Figure3 is a perspective view of the case with the lid closed. Figures 4 and 5; show alternative methods of closing the perfume aperture.
The perfume 1 is held in chamber 2. Projecting upward from the casing of chamber 2 is a standard? which has a tapped hole through its center. A} tube 4 projects within chamber 2. Tube 41 carries near its upper end a threaded sleeve 5 which fits over the tube and is soldered to it. The upper end of tube 4 is soldered into nozzle 6. Projecting into chamber 2 are tubes? and 8 which are closed at their lower ends and open at their tops. Lip stick 9 which is of a well-known form is encased in its slotted metallic sleeve 10. Metallic lug 11 projects from a cap 21 over the top of hp stick 9 and is for the purpose of pushing out the lip stick from sleeve 10 as it becomes used up. Sleeve 10 fits snugly into tube 7 with its head projecting out of the tube. In a similar manner eyebrow pencil 12 with its sleeve 13 fits into tube 8. Of course it is to be understood that other forms of holders of cosmetics can be deed and held in tubes 7 and 8. Split ring 15 which is revolvably held in sockets formed in standard 3 is adapted to fit tightly over the end of nozzle 6 so as to close its aperture when not in use. Hinged to the casing of chamber 2 is a concave lid 14, which with a mating concavity in the adjacent wall of the casing of chamber 2 forms a chamber 16 which is adapted to hold a removable powder puff (not shown) or other toilet article.
In order to use the case for spraying with perfume, ring 15 is turned back from over the aperture of nozzle 6 and the case is then grasped between the fingers By pressing against the more or less flexible casing of chaimber2 with lid 14 open or closed, much in the manner as an oil can is used, perfume 1 is forced up through the bottom of tube 4 and out through nozzle 6. The cosmetic pencils 9 and 12 can be removed from their respective tubes 7 and 8 and applied to the face after which they can be returned being held in place by friction.
Instead of closing the aperture of nozzle 6 by ring 15, the methods shown in Figures 4 and 5 could be used. In Figure 4 disc 17 1. A vanity case comprising a chamber,-
for ejecting the perfume, a nozzle attached to said chamber and a plurality of tubes closed at their inner ends projecting Within said chamber for holding solid cosmetics.
4. A Vanity case comprising a chamber, for holding perfume, having a flexible Wall for ejecting the perfume and having projecting from it a standard with a hole in it, a nozzle adapted to be fastened to said standard and a split ring having its ends fitting into sockets formed in said standard, said ring adapted to be rotated so as to tightly close the aperture oi said nozzle.
6. The combination with a perfume container of a recess formed in the side thereof, for the purpose of holding a poWder-pufi.
