UNITED STATE-s SALVATORE QUENTIN LUPO, OF NEiN` YORK,A N. Y.
COMBINED VANITY COMPACT AND CIGARETTE CASE.
Application filed April 1, 1925. Serial No. 19,910.
This invention relates generally to the class of carrying receptacles and has parteular reference to a combined lvanity compact and cigarette case for ladies. 6 One of the principal objects of the present invention is to provide a light, compact and attractive carrying lcase for cigarettes andy cosmetics which lis adapted to be suspended from the arm of the wearer and in which '0 the suspension means is attached to thc closure cap for one of the compartments so that when the cover is removed, the same will be suspended by the suspension means to give the wearer free use of the hands to l hold the body of the case with one and to remove the contents thereof with the other. The invention furthermore comprehends a combined carrying case of the character setforth which is so shaped and designed as 20 to facilitatethe holding of the case and Vone of the removable sectlons thereof conveniently in one of the hands while permitting free use of the other hand to remove and apply the contents thereof.
As a still further object the invention resides in the provision of a' combined carrying case which is comparatively simple in its construction, inexpensive to manufacture and highly efficient in its purpose.
With the above recited and other objects in view, reference is had to the following specification and drawings in which there is exhibited one example or embodiment of the inventionw'hich is in no way intended as a limitation upon the scope of the appended claims as it is to be clearly understood that variations and modifications which properly fall within the scope of said claims may be resorted to when found expedient.
In the drawings- Fi ure 1 is a perspective view of the combine vanity compact and cigarette case closed; V
Fig. 2 `is a similar view illustrating the manner of using the same as a vanity case.'
Fig. 3 is a similar view illustrating the manner in which the cigarettes are removed from their compartment.
Fig. 4 is an enlarged vertical sectional view through the same.
Referring to the drawings by characters of reference designates a substantially cylindrical body open upper end defined by a reduced externally threaded portion 11. The case body 10 is provided with a 4bottom wall 12 havwhich is provided with an l mg a recess 13 thereunder and a reduced externally threaded depending boss 14. A closure cap 15 having an interiorly threaded lower end 16 is removably ,mounted on the upper end of the body 10 to define together therewlth a cigarette containing compartment 17 and the top wall of said cap has attached thereto a looped suspension element 1.8 which is adapted to suspend the same from the arm of the wearer. A removable b ottom section or cap 19 having an interiorly threaded upper end 20 is connected with the body 10 and defines a com artment 21- which is designed to receive an contain a compact 22 .and an applicator or puff 23. A mirror 2li is secured within the recess 13 and an ornamental tassel 25 is secured to the bottom wall of the removablelower cap or section 19 to depend therefrom. The tassel 25 supports and conceals within the strands thereofa cosmetic pencil 26.
In use of the device as a vanity case, the wearer unscrews the lower cap or compartment 19 and holds the body with the up er cap 15 applied between the thumb and rst wo fingers of the hand as illustrated in 1g. 2 without removing the suspension element 18 from the wrist. The removed lower cap or compartment is supported between ythe remaining two fingers and heel of the hand as also illustrated in Fig. 2, thereby permitting the wearer free use of the other hand for applying the contents with the applicator 23. When it is desired to remove the cigarettes or contents of the compartment 17, the upper cap 15 and body 10 arel separated, the cap 15 being independentlyl suspended by the suspension element 18 permitting the user to grasp the body 10 in one hand while the other hand is free to remove the cigarettes or other articles from the compartment 17. The cosmetic pencil 26 may be used by withdrawing the removable section 27 from the stationary or attached section 26 and of course it is obvious when the same is not in use that it will be concealed by the tassel 25.
I claim:

having an open upper end, a closure suspension means connected with the -upper end of the closure cap for suspending the body from the arm of the wearer when the cap is attached thereto and for` suspending the 'cap from the arm of the wearer when and defining with the body a compartment,
a suspension means connected with the upper end of the closure cap for suspending the body from the arm of the weareil when the cap is attached thereto and or suspending the cap from the arm of vt-he wearerwhen' separated from the body whereby to give the wearer free use of both hands to hold the body with one and to remove the contents with the other, a boss at the lower end of the body, and a cup-shaped bottom section detachably connected with the boss and detining therewith a separate conipartment.
