WRIST VANITY CASE Application filed December 21, 1927; Serial No. 241,478.

The invention herein described relates to a novelty device commonly known as a compact or vanity case which in its adaptation illustrated herein is designed to be worn to simulate a wrist watch or may be worn as a garter or anklet bracelet.

It consists essentially of a container of rather unique form which will hold the usual accessories of powder puff, rouge and lip stick, which have come into common use as an accessory to the well dressed woman.

In addition to this, a mirror is provided so that the makeup may be properly applied.

Of course, vanity cases of various sorts have come into common use, but the intention of the present invention is to provide a very simple form of device which is compact, worn upon the wrist and readily accessible as to all of its component elements.

Of course, hand bags'have been provided with such paraphernalia and vamty cases of innumerable types have been devised which may be carried in a hand bag or suspended on a finger ring, but all suchdevices requlre removal from the hand bag or an mmedlate exposition of use by opening a vanlty case.

In the accompanying drawings, numeral 1, denotes the vanity case and 2, the band by which it may be secured to the wrist, ankle or as a garter.

The device is always ready at hand for use and does not necessitate the use of a hand bag with its attendantpossib'ility of loss or misplacement or a search through the hand bag with a possible liability of loss of articles from the bag. Furthermore, it does not become a care to the user, as does the socalled finger ring vanity case. It is usually porn upon the wrist and leaves the hands ree. 1

The vanity case consists of any artistic form which is made in two "parts, a base 2, and cover 3, properly associated and hinged As illustrated, the case is made in the form of an oval wrist watch, the stem of the watch being the thumb button 5, which is knurled to simulate a watch stem, the pressure upon the thumb button or stem 5, immediately makes thecontents of the vanity case available for use and the arrangement of the pockets or recesses for containing the rouge pact, powder pact or lip stick are so constructed in the base or cover of the casing that the device may be comparatively thin and not cumbersome or noticeable any more than a watch would be;

Extending over the knurled portion is a loop 6, and at the opposite end of the lower portion of the casing is a loop 7 Through these loops are passed or secured the band 2. One end of the band is pamed throughthe loop and attached to a clasp member 8, through which the band passes. The clasp member has a movable clamp 9, by which the loop and band may be adjusted upon the wrist. Y

Any. convenient form of adjusting device and clamp or lock for the band may be employed and the band may be of textile or ribbon form or it may be of metal, so long as it performs its function of securing the case in place.

As illustrated in Figures 1 and 2, the principal cover portion has a mirror 10, which takes the place of the ordinary crystal of a watch. l-Vithin the cover is a clasp 11, for holding a lip stick 12. Within the bottom portion of the casing which, with the cover is somewhat curved to fit the wrist, there is a recess 13, for a compact of rouge and an intermediate recess 14, for a compact of powder and puff and below a depression 15, into which the lip stick projects when the cover is closed.

This arrangement provides a very compact structure which is not unusually cumbersome. i

In Figure 5, there is a small modified arrangement in which the cover portion 3 is embellished exteriorly in any desirable ornate design and worked into this design there is a wrist portion 16, which serves as a recess for the lip stick. The lip stick in this case, is secured in a clip 17, in the lower section of the case, and this permits the insertion of a mirror 18, within the cover 3.

Of course, if desired, the exterior finish of the cover may simulate a watch having min ute and hour hands and indiciasimulating a watch, or it may be embellished in any fanciful or artistic esign.

Whether the mirror is on the exterior surface of the cover or on the interior surface thereof, the use of the device is not changed.

The user by pressing upon the stem 5, opens the cover and has immediate access to the various cosmetics desired and the mirror serves as a convenient means for applying the same.

Obviously, the exact details and design features of the device, as illustrated by the drawings, nee-d not be adhered to.

The principal object being to provide a bracelet like structure having all the necessary features of a vanity case and simulating, to an extent, a wrist watch or bracelet.

What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. In a device of the character described, a casing conforming to the wrist of the wearer u o I 7 consisting of a base portion and cover, a stem holding the cover and base in locked position and movable to release the cover from the base, a mirror forminga part of the cover, means in said cover for the holding of a lip stick, a recess in the base for holding a rouge pact, powder pact and puff.

2. In a device of the character described, a casing and cover therefor, a stem holding the cover and base in locked position and movable to release the cover from base, a mirror forming a part of the cover, a recess formed partially in the cover and partially in the base for receiving a lipstick, said lipstick held by a clip to one of the elements, and recesses in the base for holding a rouge pact powder pact and pufl.
